Hell no:gucci::mjlol:No comic film should be expected to drop billie off rip unless it’s a sequel after universal acclaim of the previous film. Even then dropping a billie today isn't like 2014. Not many superhero films have done major blockbuster damage like that the last 2 years. Superman just needs to get both financial and CRITICAL success. Fans and critics need to like it because word of mouth affects so much due to social media.
700-800 million would be phenomenal let alone a billy, this few needs to turn a profit and the be a critical success all around and that should be a great overall start.

I can't see this being trash, the question will be the cultural impact and if this is a response to what people find bad about comic films (cookie cutter robotic vehicles to sell toys vs telling a story with heart).

This movie has the chance to be generational.

Hopefully the movie is not only good but causes a Superman renaissance in pop culture/media.

I got a feeling especially if it doesn't do the "woke Disney stuff" this is going to be the vehicle for 80s style Americana among the MAGAs lol especially with Trump being in a Regan type position. That is unrelated to the film being good but I`m just calling out what I expect.

I’m curious to see the reactions to both Superman and The Fantastic Four movies. Since the general consensus for both IPs/characters are that they’re boring. Especially since people have came around to liking Cap and Cyclops.

Joker did a fukking billy WITHOUT BATMAN... Aquaman did a billy.. Wonder Woman did a billy... I'm not even getting into the obvious characters and team ups

You telling me Super fukking Man in his debut movie in a whole new universe in the second week of motherfukking JULY shouldn't be expected to do 1 billion WORLDWIDE???

Oh you nikkas is lowering the bar.. these new movies aren't doing numbers because they fukking suck... I'm saying if this about to be THE SUPERMAN MOVIE... it needs to do a billy. I don't want to hear about no damn Gal Godot putting up better numbers

Everyone of those films dropped the tail end of the previous decade and had comic film hype assistance from Infinity War and Endgame. Since then everything has either dropped sharply or straight up tanked. DC just needs a financial and critical success to start. Matt Reeves Batman was a great example it didn't do a billie but crushed it due to word of mouth. If Superman comes close doing that it be awesome :manny:Superman historically has never done monster numbers at the box office like that. I do feel this is going to do what Man of Steel should've been critically:whew:

I agree with the first half of your first sentence.... partly since Joker was 2019.... but mainly because these movies fukking suck... Most movies that did 1 billy were actually good. So I'm not buying the "it was the turn of the decade and hype"

Nah it was good movies....

If this movie is great, it'll easily do a billion... If not..................................

I don't want to hear no excuses... it's fukking Superman... If The Batman can do $772 with a smaller budget and less hype... I don't want to hear about the flagship hero, on the flagship movie of the entire DCU not getting another $130

Batman has become the more marketable DC character in the last 40 years compared to Superman.

Many comic book fans and casual moviegoers have preferred superheroes who are more "gritty" and "darker" (with a few exceptions). Superman is often seen as "corny" and "lame".

This Superman movie should make a lot of money but I'm not sure if it will make a billion. It could but we'll see what happens.

I didn't expect to come in here and see box office as a topic but there are no movies where $1 billion is the "floor" anymore because movie theaters haven't fully recovered since the pandemic. They are maybe like 75% back or so...

Yes, a movie can still do a billion but it has to be a cultural phenomenon with years of anticipation.

'The Batman' did around $770M or something like that and probably would have gotten over a billion if WB wasn't still doing the short theater runs leading into streaming on Max..

They later changed that and for example let 'Barbie' cook and that went well over a billion.

I think it'll be good but there's too much riding on it to be truly transformational like a Dark Knight. it's going to be like the Force Awakens. this is something that has to be a foundation for all the movies after it. Best I'll hope for is it's like Iron Man where you can watch it years later in appreciation.

Yeah, it’s hilarious how fixated some people can be with the “BILLI or bust” mindset.

I just hope it's not in the same vein as Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, etc with the humor. Less dudebro humor. Needs great cinematography and story. Just needs to give people that feel good emotion with some good action.
