Bernie should have done more to gain the older black vote, that's a fair takeaway.
I'm just not rocking with the idea that Biden did anything meaningful himself to earn it. Same with Clinton in 2016.
Again, I think religion is an overlooked factor in Bernie’s relations with Black voters, especially older and southern ones. Bernie is a nonreligious Jew who never talks about God and doesn’t go to Black churches and clap offbeat then pretend to be the white substitute pastor like Biden cause it isn’t him. Not being part of the Black church’s political infrastructure has to be a big hindrance.

Why not do both? Have better policies and do the outreach to needed to make people both understand that and familiarize themselves with you. I know why Liz failed here, she’s not the name Biden nor Bernie is, but after 16, Bernie had the money, power (ground game), and 4 years to make this closer. He made inroads with black voters elsewhere, I fully believe harder push could’ve eroded more of Biden’s firewall down there
I know one thing, if it was Warren who ran and lost in the 2016 primary, she would have spent the past 4 years building those coalitions. She was able to secure a lot of the black grasstop support, especially black women, in only 1 year of running because she listens and is open to incorporating new ideas and perspectives from the communities she's trying to represent. She was down in Tulsa holding conversations and cutting educational promos for the Black Wall St Massacre She would have absolutely made a strong push in the black community and rivaled Biden's support. :francis:

Correct. Youth voter turnout is a problem everywhere in this country. it needs to be addressed further.
how much of it is accountability though?

most kids can't name their congressman, and they just dont give a fukk about voting. i dont really see it as a "problem" that kids cant be bothered to vote because they're glued to their smartphones. im 29, ive been talking to kids like that for years

Man if you don’t get this fan fiction the fukk out of here. Warren was a legitimate Sunday School teacher and never thought to campaign on that in the South. She has all the wonk skills and 0 political awareness.

Bernie links himself to Obama.

Just amazes me that damn near half the candidates wanted to shyt on Obama as if he's not the most popular politician in the fukking country - and possibly the world.
Yall love to vomit bullshyt regurgitated by the media with such certainty, its appalling. Dont try to refurbish Hillary 2016 follies here.
Bernie Sanders Announces Rallies in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Spartanburg and Columbia, South Carolina on February 26-28, 2020 ****Updated

Mind you this was way more than what Biden did. The south being the south =/= ignoring, lack of outreach.

Its not deep.

It's more to it than just doing rallies. I'm amazed Bernie (and Warren) did little to nothing to reach out to those black areas or power brokers.

What a ridiculous claim. Most people growing up with a middle school education get taught that socialism = communism = opposite of what America stands for. Dude is saying fighting against that sort of ingrained concept of a form economics is easier to defend than some random situation in Ukraine a country most Americans can't point to on a map.
He was really trying to die on that hill too.

even sam Seder was confused by this speech. Why even do it?

who cares about the term?!

Even Paul Krugman was like yo...sanders isn’t even a real communist so why does he adopt the term and that it’s pointless in terms of getting anything done! Opinion | Bernie Sanders Isn’t a Socialist

It is absolutely a problem that a significant portion of our country can't be assed to vote. Even if you want to chalk it up to accountability, it's still a problem that they aren't being accountable. Even if you ignore just the youth, our country is a joke compared to others when it comes to turnout.
