I was a GOD on this game. A GOD. Lob you with he Pokemon from anywhere on the map. Kirby was my nikka on N64 then Luigi on GameCube. One of the best concepts to a fighting game ever. I love this series. I brought a wii just to have smash bros.
I was giving nikkas in my neighborhood a run for they money with Falco or Captain Falcon on the gamecube. I got REALLY into the shyt. Wavedashing and l canceling.
Brehs if you have a gaming PC that was built in the last 2-3 years you can play Brawl in HD on Dolphin smoothly. Y'all up on Project M?http://projectm.dantarion.com/about/
I have that installed so not only is the game in crisp HD and plays smooth but the mechanics of the game is more similar to Melee now and doesn't have tripping and the other slowness of Brawl. Characters feel better too.
I just was now having some fun playing this classic again but man the gamecube controller was made for Smash. Playing this with a PS3 controller is an abomination and the 360 controller is a bit better but still nothing comes close to the GC controller for these games.

I hope they still have Sonic in this new one.
They'll keep Sonic because he has a strong fanbase, hopefully they add Knuckles, Shadow, Dr. Robotnik, Crash Bandicoot, bring back Roy, Dr. Mario, also add baby Bowser

Man I don't think some of y'all understand how much I played Melee. Bro the night before I got that I was sleeping in bed and I was around 11-12 years old and it was a school night. I hear my brother come in the house and he like "Yo I got melee" when he got in the room. I'm thinking he bullsh1tting so I just lay in bed a little and in the hallway I hear a faint "MARIO!" come out the living room TV. Yo I'm in bed like 
because I can't get up because my grandma was in the room and I can't get up to go play at night or else she'd start talking a lot . I got up the next morning and seen the case in the living room I was like 
. I went to school with that booklet and read it all day. Got home and played the shyt out of that game. I played Melee from december 01 to the launch of Brawl and that was basically almost everyday for hours and chop off a few hours to save for a few games on Ps2/GC/Wii playtimes and Melee is my most played game ever. I still remember unlocking characters in that game. The intro to that game is
. shyt was as epic as the game was. Melee is without a doubt my favorite video game of all time bar none. Brawl would be my third or fourth game with Uncharted 2 being 2nd.
I hated brawl. Took everything I loved about melee and ruined it. I prolly clocked like 5k hours on melee between practice, sessions, tournaments, traveling...hell a young nikka with no type of obligations but school melee was that deal. Just do my homework and the rents held me down...

I remember copping Melee that weekend, I was 13, so I'm somewhere in your age group, my dad bought me that game from Kmart as soon as it opened, played it from 8 in the morning till midnight, only took breaks to eat, drink, shower, and shyt. I use to make money by beating kids in Melee, that was my first job
What You know about pulling S.U.D. (Smash Until Dawn) When you get a group of friends and play Smash bros all night with no weapons and on tourney maps ex. Final Destination, Battle Field, Fountain of Dreams, Kirby Dreamland, Pokemon Stadium, and Corneria I agree with you breh, Melee is #1 to me in video games all time. Brawl is utter trash
All Nintendo needs to do is make it more like Melee, add a Matchmaking system that caters to casual and the hardcore audience. For instance a 1v1 playlist with no items on select maps. free for all with items, custom matches, etc. The Fab Five: Luigi, Marth, Roy, Cpt. Falcon, and Dr. Mario

Have you tried the Project M I posted earlier? It makes the gameplay more like Melee. I think Melee>>>>>>>>>>>Vanilla Brawl but project M brawl is up there with melee in the gameplay department.
In Smash 4 nintendo needs to do like you said 1v1 hardcore no items and extra bs. Lag free online and I'm probably going to have to make sure I have a vigilant girl in my house because I won't be giving her the time of day except for some backshots and a kiss goodnight. When I see that Smash 4 trailer I'm gonna need a cup of water.
I got a Mac breh, and I doubt I can play Smash with an xbox controller, the playlist should go something like.
hardcore playlist:
1v1 no items
2v2 no items
free for all no items
with some form of a ranking system
Casual playlist:
1v1(items)
2v2(items)
free for all (items)
then have playlists with all items off except for pokeballs, hammers only, etc. Have you seen some of the mods for Brawl though? You can use characters like Ryu, Goku, Knuckles, etc.
