This game is owned by Sony now

:ohhh:

Let's go back in time.....

When it was just a Xbox exclusive....
The Sony brigade shows up, and guess what..... They don't like an Xbox exclusive.

What a surprising turn of events :heh:
Then it gets released for PC.....
Times changing. PC gang finally winning :manny:

It makes zero sense to lock games down to one platform anymore. Sony/Microsoft don’t make money on hardware sales. They make money of software and services so it makes the most sense to put those software and services on as many platforms as possible.

Sony stans gonna lose one of their long time arguments, let’s see what they pivot to next :mjlol:

What are you actually trying to say here?

Seems my assessment was correct. There are less and less console exclusive games, while most pubs push to put their games on multiple platforms.

fukk you goin on about right now? :dahell:

Doesn't work that way. Sony owned the company but Microsoft owns the right to the game. You won't see a Sunset Overdrive on PS5 but probably a different game close to it.

Actually Insomniac got back the publishing rights for the game about a year or 2 ago, and Sony now owns the right to the game, and all past Insomniac games. Microsoft never owned the IP, which was a major reason Insomniac rolled with them instead of Sony who wanted it. Ironic enough, Sony now owns the IP and the rest of their games.

Microsoft never owned the IP.

That was the whole point of insomniac signing with Microsoft, cause Sony wanted to own the IP. Which is ironic considering Sony just decided to buy the whole studio a couple years later.

The deal might have given Microsoft some say in which platforms the game could end up on, so maybe they have to approve a PlayStation port of the first game. But any sequels or further use of the IP is all up to Sony.
