Feud should be fun, match should be good. It's still a consolation price for someone who didn't need it.

Imagine they use Jericho to give Okada something to do without the belt.

shyt, if Naito vs Jericho was for the belt it would be a bigger deal too.

Of course Naito is gonna go over, he's gonna beat everyone besides Okada or a token tournament loss during the whole year.

shyt, Inoki had to invent a whole new thing with him beating all sorts of combat sports people so he could be seen even above wrestling and title belts and to show New Japan really was the "King of Sports". at Gedo coming up with anything even resembling that sort of impact.

Okada never losing big matches in the near future will only make him be perceived as the only star worth a damn and it will lead to the "1 Ace, fukk the rest" dynamic WWE has had for years now and that will be dangerous for New Japan considering they do not have 1/10th of the loyal fanbase WWE has.

If anything, Okada losing and leaving the belt to a guy like Naito, who will keep drawing as well as Okada has, so he could move past the title and try to become "something bigger" to increase his legend, would've make more sense than him just being a dominant champ that is not even the most popular guy on the roster.
