A Christmas movie is primarily about Christmas. Taking place during Christmas doesn't mean the movie is about the holiday season and Christmas themes. It's A Wonderful Life is a Christmas movie. A Christmas Carol is a Christmas movie. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one.And you're still wrong.
Nobody really associates the Die Hard franchise with Christmas like that. Hell some of the sequels have nothing to do with Christmas. You have to stretch the meaning of Christmas movie to be any movie that has the plot takes place during Christmas time to make it qualify.
That's exactly what it is. It would be very difficult if not almost impossible to make an action film and have it be about Christmas because the holiday has nothing to do with action and violence in the first place. The action themes would dominate the movie and people would associate it more with that than Christmas which is why Die Hard polls as not being a Christmas movie. It's an action film that takes place during Christmas, which to me, is not the same thing.
