Miracle on 34th Street was released in May. But I guess it isn't a Christmas movie using that logic
Its a movie about Santa Claus. Die Hard is about a terrorist attack. It was also released in a far different era to more modern cinema being the 1940s. In modern cinema Christmas movies purposely target near Christmas releases.

Yea, there's merit to this. Back then movies stayed in theaters for a much longer period of time since most people no other avenues to see the flicks (no DVD/VHS, no Netflix or HBO...hell, most didn't even have TV's!)

If you want further proof Christmas movies or movies studios want a strong association with Christmas are typically released closer to Christmas. Die Hard came out in the summer. In that respect even Just Friends has a larger case to that than Die Hard.
The next Halloween movie comes out in June. (The remake even came out in august) studios have many reasons for when they release movies. In the 80's, big action movies were typically released in the summer. It was marketed as an action movie, that doesnt mean its not a christmas movie.

Iron Man 3 a christmas movie?
Stop it.
Shane Black loves writing his movies set around Christmas.

Iron Man 3 isn't a Christmas movie and neither is die hard 1 or 2.
They are action movies.

Home Alone is about negligence. Home Alone 3 & 4 are the same movies but don't take place around Christmas....so Home Alone shouldn't be a Christmas movie.
