Yeah. I was bored in the office and the thread was slow so my mind wandered and I went with it...but knowing our team we should expect something to happen.

Miami drafted Wade; Mario, and Cole.
LA drafted Kobe and Bynum(he was one of the top 3 reasons the Lakers repeated)
Boston drafted Pierce; Rondo, and Perkins.

Yes it is a crap shoot, but your best bet is to get picks. From there you can draft stars; draft players that will help you net stars(ala Boston drafting Jeff Green and trading him to Seattle to net Allen), or using your picks in trades(LA and Miami trading picks to net Gasol and Bron/Bosh). Bottom line it's easier to stockpile on picks(taking on bad contracts; trading guys at the deadline) than it is for anything else. Now if you don't get lucky through the draft, you can use your surplus of young players/picks to acquire(see Melo; Chris Paul, and Dwight trades) stars, if not that then FA. Nothing is a slam dunk, but the draft is the safest one.

So Wade, Chalmers, and Cole are Miami's core? That's the team they built thru the draft? Don't act stupid man. Yeah Miami has players on the roster they drafted, but you and I know the core of that team and key role players like Ray Allen, Birdman, Battier, and Mike Miller were not acquired thru the draft. Chalmers and Cole could be replaced by isaiah thomas and jeremy lin and they still win. If you gotta play semantics to attempt to make your point.....

Actually LA didn't draft Kobe. They traded for him. And they win nothing without also acquiring Gasol and Odom and Ariza and later Artest. Wow, how did they get there??

Despite drafting Pierce and Rondo (and Perkins ), C's were going nowhere fast. Until what? They made a trade! A trade? For who? KG and Ray Allen!

I'm done with you cats. You talking about building the the draft and can't name 1 team with a ring solely built the the draft. Playing semantics games like "b-b-b-but MIA drafted Wade". Drafting your star player IS NOT BUILDING THRU THE DRAFT. It's getting lucky. Whether luck to get a high pick or your pick turns into an all star. And I just read the rest of your post...trading your draft picks is not building thru the draft either!! It's using assets! And also by this flawed, twisted logic...that would mean the Knicks are building thru the draft too seeing as how they always trade their picks. WOW. I'm really done now...

You ignored half my post breh. Yes, draft AND having picks/young players are key to building a team. You hope to get lucky through the draft, if not, trade your picks and/or young players for stars(see Boston and LA). Even with that, there's no full proof way of building a chip team, but getting a surplus of young players and/or picks help.

Built up that lead, starters came back in the 3rd, took the lead after being 13down. NY takes a 5pt lead
Bench comes back in. happy new years. Bradley Beal, 20yrs, after having 29pts in less than 3qtrs vs the Heat
21pts in spot duty tonight Trevor Booker came just shy of a double double in spot duty as well
When the main team was out there, nobody has been able to stop us
And thats without Nene, Okafor, O.Porter and Singleton
