I started listening to Dave Ramsey in 2008. My life turned around in 2009. I stop thinking about credit scores and stopped my 401k planned.

I had a 1300$ mortgage for 4.5 years and I rented a room out most of time for like 700$. That allowed me to save a ton. Plus I make a good salary. I'm cheap as hell, don't spend hardly any money on women. I have nice clothes but mostly old years old. I've sold beats, made a few grand. Used the GI Bill, pocketed most of it. Use coupons and rebates. Take items back if I don't love it. I don't travel a lot, unless I have a free place to stay for free with a friend or relative. Don't spend a lot of food.

i'm cheap, but I could really be cheaper. I love cars and shoes. I could have 50k more if I really tightened up.

Mostly good advice. I'm a big cheapie myself. The bolded ones could potentially become regrets later in life tho. I used to be like that too but now I'll always choose a trip with friends over money in the bank.

I'm about to join the coast guard so ima need a little more detail on pocketing the cash from the GI Bill.. I didn't know you could do that :ohhh:

The GI BIll gives you housing money now too, like 1800 in DC. Keep a roommate and spend 800 on rent, save a grand a month right there. Go to community college in state if possible

You could have stopped at GI bill.

All the vets I know who have half a lick of sense are eating well off their army benefits. The housing stipend, plus the tuition help is awesome.

And the housing stipend is fixed no matter what you do. I had a friend come back from Afghanistan and live at home for a bit. He straight-up pocketed the stipend.

I hate brag, not really cuz I am Stuntone, but Coli, I'm got a 100k. No credit card debt or student loan debt. :salute: Just car I love, that I bought with almost 1% interest rate.

A project boy from the real bottom (Louisiana) breh. I shared a room with the roaches and the rats for real! I'm proud of this journey. I came a long way. God only knows what might happen in the future, but right now I got it. And I'm still cheap as hell. lol! I did bless everyone in my family with a few bands a few months ago. The smile on their faces. I want to flip that 100k into something, but I don't know what to do.

Having 100k liquid and pretty much debt free, has to put me in the top 10% right? I know that jealous going to make you want to attack me or derail the thread. I know the hate is coming, but I love to stunt baby! It comes with the territory and I actually love it.

And the women bruhs!!! When they get around a really legit dude that's living within his mean, they fall in line like a muthafukka. I don't brag in real life. My life does the talking. When they see how I live, I don't have to say a word. A lot of these successful woman haven't been around someone that really doing good. These women say they're successful with their good jobs and acuras, but when we talk money and finance I look closely into their moneys and debts, I see the aren't that successful. I'm not that successful, bcuz my money isn't working for me right now. I'm working on that.

Seriously I talk a lot sh:t, but the advice I give on thecoli, I really am trying to help people here. I really feel like I know a lot more than most, not because I'm smart, because I study and think harder and longer than most. I don't let emotions, optimism and religion blind me seeing what's really there. I wish everyone well, I love ya'll on here. I've learned a lot on here from a lot of you. Happy Holidays folks!!!
:salute:put that money to work breh! if you have a dream you can make money out of it, invest that money in yourself and start a business.

also, i don't know if you know much about investing but if not, i strongly suggest you read the morningstar.com investing classroom guide. that shyt is :ohlawd: someone posted it on the :hamster: and i swear it was top 5 thread of all time status. still looking for a pdf of it. here's a link:

they start assuming you don't know anything and they go deep...
