I ain’t trippin just yet.
There seems to be a philosophical disconnect between Malone and Booth. I hope they bridge that and get on the same page so that another year isn’t wasted.
Booth is leaning toward playing the young guys to round out the rest of the rotation after the core four of Jokic, Murray, AG, and MPJ.
Malone seems to rely more on the veteran guys.
Problem with Malone’s approach is he doesn’t always trust the vets on top of having a short leash for the young guys. It works when the personnel is a KCP, Brucie B, or Jeff Green but falters when it’s Reggie Jackson, Zeke, or Justin Holliday. This year showed that he leans too much on his stars when the personnel isn’t just right which gasses them and makes us worse overall come playoff time.
It’ll be interesting to see if they go after a Westbrook. If they do, it tells me Malone isn’t completely bought in to the youth movement. If they don’t, maybe it’s a sign Malone will be more committed to playing the young guys.
Really hoping Watson, Strawther, and Holmes get some consistent opportunities. Praying Braun working on J so he can shoot it with some confidence.
