We’re staring at our Twitter timeline and thecoli headlines all day, where everything is a war or some tweet about republicans or someone dunking on some racist piece of shyt.
The reality is that the majority of Americans are just tryin to go about them, make a living and see their family.
People don’t see 100% eye to eye as much anymore, and people can get nastier when we’re all behind computer screens, but make no mistake there is no civil war coming

People aren’t desperate enough yet for that to happen. It's coming, but not anytime in the immediate future.
Most Americans don’t even care about politics. It’s the loud minority. They are definitely more ppl engaged than ever but most working class folk are too wrapped up in family and bills too actually get active.
The seeds of American narcissism have grown into fully developed trees. We, as a country, were really feeling ourselves after WW2. We have walked with our chest out for decades, daring a punk to jump up, involving ourselves in regime changes, sometimes out of protection of civilians, most of the time out of opportunity to sew instability, and secure strategic monetary/geopolitical spaces and resources. Now, more and more, we are seeing a bunch of weird, violent, miserable, hateful fukkfaces that think they and only them can fix it and “save” the country from “evil libs”. It’s so fukking stupid, and the worst part is, 20+% of this country have entered territory (Qanon specifically) that there really is no coming back from. These people have literally given up their family, friends, jobs, lives on the premise that they are the action star of this big movie and this shytty American narcissistic pride will never let these folks admit they are wrong. I don’t think an actual, physical “Civil War” will break out any time soon, but we will definitely have plenty of little Kyle R situations all around the country for the foreseeable future. We have turned politics into religion, and more so the right in this country have turned their political leaders into Gods on earth to worship, while some on the left, as a defense mechanism, decided to take on the attitude that their political leaders can do no wrong, and here we are, pretty much left with a dumpster fire

Uh...most americans are sitting ducks and would be food to the military
The only reason why it wouldn't be a complete wash is because servicemen would sympathize and there'd be a lot of deserters.
This country is definitely headed for something. We're seeing the seeds sewn for something to happen. Thankfully most people with responsibilities who hold strong views aren't willing to risk it all. If ever there's an economic collapse, major disaster that affects the entire country, you might see that divide spark into something more serious.
