I never understood the appeal of speeding ...like nothing good comes out of it ...i remember when i first got my license at 16 and the insurance guy told me the majority of accidents happen when people are in a rush and i only ever gotten 1 ticket but it was 45 mph speed trap down hill

Right, I agree with the jail time aspect honestly, but I don't agree with the length. Especially since the only things our prisons do is make you even more of a criminal then when you went in.

As for the second part, isn't this where we need to focus on rehabilitation and getting that shyt out of his system? His repeated awful decision making due to him being this young kid who thinks he's invincible resulted in tragedy. Now wouldn't it be time to make sure that doesn't happen again and make him and others like him people who can actually operate in society rather than dooming them to a life of nothingness?

Sounds like you have a problem with how our prison system is ran.

I agree that prison shouldn't be this place we send criminals to become worse individuals. There's definitely a conversation on rather or not we should give prisoners the tools to better themselves behind bars and certain amenities for more livable conditions.

But I'm still ok with the sentencing in this case considering dudes background.

At 18 getting 24 years is pure torture. Missed the glory years and come out and all cars electric or flying cars.. It will be a totally different world and all the torture he gets while in jail he's gonna wish he died in that accident. At 18 years he would have got out at 32 with good behavior. Dude is finished. The extra 6 years the judge gave him was the life ender. The judge made sure he wouldn't be able to enjoy his 30s. Take 2 lives and that's what you deserve.

Nah fukk all that, what does it accomplish to put an 18 year old in a prison system that doesn't actually rehabilitate anyone for 24 years?

I wish people in this country cared more about actually rehabilitating people we put in the prison system than just punishing them and dooming them to a life of crime over mistakes made in their youth.

Just fyi, this happened in 2018. He's now 21.

Since these are consecutive sentences, he'll be out at 45.
