So.........

.....I had a tough time with this film, overall.

First thought was that the set design and visual style of the film feels extremely dated. The "near future" 90's vibe has been done so often and more convincingly I had a hard time buying into this one. Despite disliking the vibe from jump, I bought into the story's hook. I was intrigued by the potential for conspiracy, even though as soon as they revealed that Jeriko One had been murdered and that he was a outspoken critic of police/etc, it was pretty apparent where the "reveal" was headed. I would have enjoyed the "twist" more if it were part of a bigger conspiracy that it turned out to be. Beyond that, I wanted more from the last 30 minutes. It sort of turned into a generic thriller/chase movie in the final act.

6/10

Also, Ralph Fiennes = Bradley Cooper. I couldn't NOT see Bradley Cooper this entire movie lol.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Bigelow. While the script/visual style of the movie kept it from being a really great film, her talent was still evident. The best parts were the single-take first-person POV scenes. Very dope.

This movie didn't really didn't hold my attention. I liked the premise of the movie, I have a thing for futuristic, alternate universe settings . The SQUIDS reminded me of Minority Report. By the middle of the movie I was forcing myself to watch it. I had already figured out part of the plot twist. The over acting at the end, also killed it for me. This script was pretty bad. 4.5/10 I wouldn't watch it again.

One good thing, I had to download "Hardly Wait: :leon:, forgot about Juliette Lewis singing.

where they cross-over and clap boards
6/10

I enjoyed it, the concept was good. The acting was a lil shakey at times but :ehh:

Low key Angela Basset could of been the next hollywood female action hero...she had the body for it. Could of easily did what Angelina Jolie did in Wanted, Salt, etc... they not ready for that tho :sas2:

The rape scene is plain strange from a tech standpoint. Why would this device be programmed/designed to also work "live" when both people have to be less then 5 feet from the thing especially when it's illegal and pricey and therefore not really any marked for it working in that way except in this one scene. Also the girl must have the weakest throat in the world if that all it took to choke her. But this could be the GOAT rape scene (strange phrase (also rhymes with strange days)) if the tech rules in the movie would've been little different

The sounds in the fight with Lenny and Mace with the three henchmen are straight :pachaha:

"Sorry Lenny, We tried to find a smaller girl to beat the shyt out of you, but it was short notice" :wtf:

Dude had hand flair randomly on him :mjlol:
Did he just reference RoboCop :dwillhuh:
Tom Sizemore channeling a young Lars Ulrich in his role as Max
Damn that slowmotion slap was poorly staged.
Not being able to remember a number like 2203 without writing it down (in blood) :beli:

OK DID SOMEBODY BESIDES ME CATCH "RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW" voice sample in the Fatboy Slim song, checked it on wiki to be sure. :blessed:

Arresting the cops for murder with the only proof being a "tape" that was recorded illegally, pleeeeease.
Mace being a waitress and in 2-3 years she's a gun expert and a hand to hand combat specialist because she's a limo driver :skip:

Overall it's a 7/10,

Good ideas that didn't live up to the potential. Solid acting from the males but the top billed actresses in this are mostly poor.

Damn you guys are a bunch of hard critics, I thought this movie was ok, the first time I saw it, I was like wow that squid device reminds me of google glass. It was way too long imo, it had some really good ideas but the execution was terrible.

I dunno, it's a rape scene. Focusing on how the tech doesn't seem to make sense seems to me like missing the forest for the trees. Or like thinking about the technical aspects of replicants in Blade Runner. Also it's less important than the fact that it's a reference to the movie Peeping Tom where the killer attaches a mirror to a camera so he can capture his victim's faces as they watch themselves being murdered.

I don't think it's nitpicking (=focusing?) when they've been going on and on about the tech, both in dialogue and showing us in "flashbacks" and it's basically a VCR for eyes and then out of nowhere it can live stream. I'd understand it could do that being old FBI/CIA tech if it hadn't been for them saying the device had to be within 5 feet of people using it, it's a useless feature to develop :yeshrug:
