Straight looping a sampling

I try not to if I can, always try to put a little spin of my own on things. Not saying temptation doesn't get the better of me sometimes though!

This didn't age well for me, 10 years on I got 100's of straight loop beats...

If I'm just looping, Generally I'll start with a loop but find subtle ways to switch it up, like:




The Madlib method, basically. You can apply different tenets of music theory to find small ways of making the loop "yours." That's a big thing Alchemist stresses. It's not about going crazy with the chops, it's about making the shyt ownable. Do shyt with it that nobody else would think to do with it but you. That's why Alc layers so many samples with his loops.
