I loop shyt all the time, but I always try to put my "texture" on it. I'm trying to develop a consistent sound. Still pretty green at this though.

If I'm just looping, Generally I'll start with a loop but find subtle ways to switch it up, like:




The Madlib method, basically. You can apply different tenets of music theory to find small ways of making the loop "yours." That's a big thing Alchemist stresses. It's not about going crazy with the chops, it's about making the shyt ownable. Do shyt with it that nobody else would think to do with it but you. That's why Alc layers so many samples with his loops.
