But Brady has surpassed Jerry Rice and separated himself when he won his 7th ring with a different team.
Bill Russell dominated the league in its early stages, lacking competition, which is the reason why he is always left out in NBA GOAT debate. It's akin to imagining Tom Brady playing in a league where he consistently faces seven inferior teams each year. The NFL is known for its parity, with any team capable of winning on a given Sunday.
I personally place a higher value on Super Bowl wins than NBA championships. Before Brady, the record for most championship wins by a quarterback was four. Brady has nearly doubled that record.
While Gretzky's accomplishments are impressive, with four Stanley Cups, they are overshadowed by Brady's seven Super Bowl wins. Both Gretzky and Brady hold numerous meaningful statistical records in their respective sports. However, once considered an unbreakable record, Ovechkin is coming close to it. Brady also have many unbreakable records IMO.
I don't consider the league MVP award in the NFL to be as significant, as it often goes to a quarterback who puts up great numbers on a top-five team in a friendly offensive system.
Similarly, I don't give much weight to quarterback All-Pro selections, as they typically align with the MVP winner. Brady notably missed out on two critical All-Pro and MVP awards during his peak in the 2008 season and struggled in 2009 trying to come back from the injury. Brady would've been a dominant force between 2007-2010. He had Randy Moss, schedule was weak, and Brady was at his physical peak. and MVP winners in those years were weak.
Brady's case against those 2 are compelling to me:
1. He won championships with two different teams. To me this is the biggest differentiator.
2. He has won seven Super Bowls, far surpassing the next-best record of four among QBs.
3. He has appeared in 10 Super Bowls, compared to the next-best record of five.
4. He played at a high level well into his 40s, a feat unmatched by any other player in the NFL.
5. He has had dramatic, signature wins in the playoffs.
6. Brady won 35 playoff games. Next best is 16.
7. Brady has 88 playoff TDs. next best is 45.
I just feel today's NFL is toughest league to win. What Brady has done in his league is so much harder than what Bill Russell did in his league.

All that and you only went back to a team accomplishment (titles). The statistical dominance of Gretzky is FAR greater than anything Brady has on his résumé.

QB is one thing, but overall football player, can't do it. Especially at the most protected position.
Can we all agree that mahomes is a better QB than Brady was his 1st six years? In the same tone can we also agree the stats based argument is skewed because of the protections QBs and WR receive playing in todays league.

The skewed stats don't really matter if you put Mahomes on the Chiefs in 2002. He would throw more TDs than Brady.
Brady only had 28 and led the league.
Trent Green had 26 and was THIRD in the league.
Replace Green with Mahomes, and he is throwing for 35 plus.
This cant be proven. Its purely hypothetical. Also that era is much, much different. Manning won his first MVP with "only" 29 pass td the following year. So you put Pat there he is throwing for 36 td?? Also the 2002 Chiefs had a great cast..Brown/Patten/Smith vs Tony G, Kennison and Holmes with the best OLine in the NFL. 2002 Brady likely throws for 35 td with the 2002 Chiefs roster. Brady also had a separated shoulder the last 5 gms that had to be surgically repaired in the offseason.
Why ppl dont factor this in, is beyond me. From 2001-2006, there were only 5 seaons with 4009 yards and 30 td passes, since 2018, there have been 35!!!! There are advanced stats that factors in the era differences and give an excellent rating. Everytime I post it, its is ignored.
