Why are you being so obtuse? This is a rare opportunity when MAGAts and Dems actually agree on a policy that helps regular people.

1. If Mitch brings it up to a vote and they pass it, it’s a W
2. If Mitch brings it up and GOP refuses to pas it, it’s a W
3. If Mitch doesn’t bring it up for a vote, it’s a W.
Because my position is simple:

1. If it passes great.
2. Doesn't ever happen, he just won't bring it up.
3. I don't believe 3 will have a major affect on the elections based on what we've seen during his tenure as leader and how committed the republican base is and how things are chalked up as both sides despite how untrue that has been.

I dont think anything is being lost. I merely pointed out that nothing is being gained.

If McConnell brings it to a vote it will be sold as upholding to an agreement he made with Trump.

If it doesn't come to a vote he'll merely blame democrats for being obstructionists.

but this is wrong, because we're facing a runoff election for control of the senate that the republicans are favored to win

Shouldn't Hawley be joining Bernie to get everyone the $2000? or will he hold out because of no 230? :mjpls:

No, because he doesn't agree with defense spending.

I've been telling you guys the Republican playbook will just be writing off the filibuster as grandstanding.

Hopefully people get their money, but this will go down as a win for Trump at the end of the day.

Don't know why that offends y'all so much. :mjlol:

Dems need to win BOTH seats.

They were ahead in neither during the general.

Nothing about this vote changes from the obstructionists behavior leading to the general.

So the argument is senators having to finish the work week will be enough for McConnell to hold a vote on something he's been pocketing since may?

No, it keeps it in the headlines. The headline is "Mitch refusing to bring $2000 vote to the floor" and it will go on for days...

Counterpoint to 3: Mitch would be diametrically opposing Trump in a big moment. That hasnt really happened yet. With more than 3x cash on the line for people...they care. It's not Mitchs base, its Trumps

@Pressure If they didn't force Mitch to bring the vote your take would be "DEMS are SPINELESS WHY ARE THEY ALLOWING MITCH TO SHELVE THIS.."
Absolutely not. I think dems dropped the ball long ago.

But once they agreed on the current bill they're stuck to it.

Trump saying he'd veto the 2k gave them a lifeline and they correctly jumped on it.

Once he signed the bill and the messaging pivoted to Republicans and WH working with dems to get Americans much needed relief, I don't see this playing out as well as if he'd just pocketed the bill.

At the end of the day, voters are going to. Say Trump fought for them and they'll vote R as a result.

That's not true. Senate has poured coldwater on many of Trump's initiatives with no recourse.

Would you like me to list them?
