Every single line item in the draft bill, including these proposed defense appropriations, is stated to be justified as being "to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally."

The draft law immediately drew criticism for including a raft of line items that seem at best tangentially related to those efforts, while many are not at all, including around $30 billion in defense spending, which would be on top of the more than $705 billion in the proposed defense budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year.


$283,000,000 to the Army for new-build AH-64E Block IIIB attack helicopters.

Not seeing the pracitical application here

$650,000,000 to the Air Force for wing replacement kits for A-10 Warthog ground-attack aircraft.

I love the A-10 but how are wing replacement kits as much as x number of F-35's

There are worse too some in the billion dollar range and they just got 705 billion!


I don't care if we spend trillions on social safety nets, infrastructure, and real small businesses especially when it will keep our economy strong and end the virus.

They’re gonna have to follow the chairman of the Fed, he’s telling everybody we need to keep giving people money for as long as this pandemic is around. That dude been saying this for the past few months. The longer the wait the more the economy is gonna sink even further.
