they should have let everyone that is now unemployed just get the regular state benefits? do you realize how catastrophic that would have been since (at least at the time it was passed) no one was hiring?

unemployment isnt really designed to support people long term. its normally required that people look for jobs so ideally they only have to collect for a couple of weeks..which is why the rationale is that people dont need a wage match entirely

it was abundantly clear people would be out of jobs for a long time and many businesses would never come back

breh i clearly said "give everyone the same stimulus per month. people on unemployment could also get the state benefits"

woulda been a better system than what they did :yeshrug:you're either getting a stimulus plus your paycheck, or a stimulus plus the state benefits

could have been done with the same money we already spent :yeshrug:

and yes, the dollar is about to crash and we're gonna have another financial crisis. that shyt isn't just "not real" because people need a stimulus. it doesnt work that way :dead:

1000 per month from april through august would have been around 1.6 Trillion based on 2019 population estimates fwiw

im just saying youre not being logically consistent. unemployed people shouldnt get more than what they made while working..but people working and making the same or more money than before should get extra money? why?

do you believe in a flat tax?

im sure theres a cap. they're not gonna pay anyone 70 thousand dollars a year to be unemployed :heh:
If you are making enough to reach 70 thousand you probably have an easier time finding a new job than someone working at Denny’s.

The larger fallout of losing that person’s taxes in states like NY and Cali would balance out the need.
