they want businesses to be reopen but liability protection from customers and employees who would be coerced into working in unsafe conditions. A lot of unlucky people have bosses who don't believe in masks and will impose that belief in the workplace.

Exactly.

which is why had they gone with my proposal, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.

$5,000 - $7,000 stimulus to everyone

a nationwide lockdown with the exception of grocery stores and public service agencies.

Unfortunately, the way our federal, state and local governments are designed, it’s virtually unenforceable. It requires, businesses and individuals to collectively all be on the same page. Not happening. Too much ignorance, Religion and lack of education disguised as “freedom”.

Our government is merely a microcosm of the society that elected them.

In this video Mnuchin said that the $1 trillion amount is the starting point, so people might be getting more money if a bill goes thru.

It doesn’t matter how much money they throw at this. If we as a nation don’t collectively come together and stay inside our homes, the virus will continue to spread, mutate and kill more people.

the stimulus was suppose to incentivize people to stay home. But the PPP incentives people NOT to stay home. The unemployment boost incentivized people to not work, but not only did it not reinforce people to stay at home, they openly encouraged people to go out and “stimulate” the economy while also find work.

So this package will have the same or less impact than the first.

Yea this virus needs to be controlled, not sure how It will be stopped since there’s states where they are now the epicenter. Plus they’re saying this will come back in the fall which is worse. It’s a complete mess.

the place where the "incentivizes not to work" argument falls apart is that in many cases there is no work for them to go back to

idk why that is so hard to understand for people who use that as a talking point

Not that Republicans seem to care. Much of the party is still seemingly convinced that the $600 unemployment boost is preventing people from going back to work—a claim for which there is absolutely noevidence, and that is becoming ever more preposterous as states shut businesses like bars back down to deal with the resurgent coronavirus outbreaks. And while the White House has signaled that it would be willing to compromise on the issue by extending benefits at a lower rate—perhaps somewhere between $200 and $400 a week—there are still no real negotiations between the two parties in Congress.

But they’re making more on unemployment ....they have no incentive to go back to jobs that don’t exist!

The people at the top are really going to let the country, its citizens, economy and everything else die huh :beli:

I should've known this is how everyone is going to die. Not a nuclear war. Not a meteor. Not a fukking apocalypse.

But the goddamn US Govt. They're going to be the reason why we all die. :mjcry:

Does Trump know there was a payroll tax deferral in the last Stimulus?

Dems got pretty much everything they wanted in the last stimulus for exchange for no oversight on PPP

The senate republicans and Trump don’t even know what they want this time
