Stimulus loans meant to help small businesses are going to U.S. coal companies.

Stimulus loans meant to help small businesses hurt by the coronavirus pandemic are being doled out to coal companies, stoking criticism from environmentalists that the Trump administration is using the aid to help a preferred industry that was already in financial trouble.

There were companies that got over $100 million in aid even though they had cash reserves. Even with zero revenue. Some have enough to last through the end of the year.

The lack of oversight on this was a tell tale sign that funds were not going to be dispersed appropriately.

Does it matter at this point? It’s going to take a decade or more to stabilize... might as well borrow as much as we can now since trump drove this country off a fukkin cliff

People need money now :francis:They might have to do this. I know it's gonna hurt to print all this money out but this is a real desperate time we're going thru right now.

Honestly though at some point a line has to be drawn and not crossed

Some people might have to take Ls

2k per month for everyone on top of everything else already done is a fukking lot

I agree it's a lot of money but if people will spend it won't it help the economy? The damage might be done already with states closed for almost 2 months. We're already getting warnings stating it's gonna take years to get out of this mess. It might be 10x worse that the 2008 recession when it's all said and done. 33 Million people are out of work. When have we ever seen that in our lifetimes?

Its unprecedented sure

But at some point they are going to cut the safety net. Social security, medicare etc. That cant happen

Question..if everyone gets 2k..what happens to medicaid and food stamp eligibility? Theyre all gonna be over the amount of funds. Unless they somehow make that money exempt (?). Idk how the fukk they would calculate that
