The Treasury Department says hedge funds aren’t eligible for SBA stimulus loans.

Hedge funds aren’t eligible for a U.S. rescue loan program, the government made clear Friday, potentially quelling a barrage of outrage over the possibility that well-heeled traders might beat out struggling small businesses for emergency funding.

New: Kim Boatswain’s tax refund could have helped her get through the coronavirus slowdown. But debt collectors seized it. There are few options for Texans like Boatswain whose money was taken just before the state temporarily banned such garnishments. https://propub.li/2wYQWG8

The U.S. Education Department will prohibit colleges from granting emergency assistance to undocumented students, including Dreamers who are under federal protection, according to guidance issued to colleges and universities on Tuesday.

The education secretary told colleges that congressional relief for students dislocated by campus closures cannot go to undocumented immigrants, even those under federal protection.

The U.S. aid program for small businesses was advertised as first-come, first-served, but some of the U.S.'s biggest banks prioritized the applications of their wealthiest clients, according to bank employees and financial industry executives.

Some businesses seeking coronavirus loans got to avoid flaky online portals or backed-up queues. Many other small businesses couldn’t get their loan requests submitted before the money dried up.

bail out the states' operating costs, but dont bail out their pension funds :yeshrug: simple compromise

states' operating costs are in everyone's interests. retirees pensions' is an issue between them and their state that's not relevant to coronavirus
