Watched Lover's Rock last night

Agree with most of the comments already, it really does a great job of depicting a mood through dancing and song, especially with the 2 big sequences at the party.

Hearing Silly Games come on and recognizing it immediately as the song Melanie Fiona sampled for Sad Songs had me

You don't realize how liberating it is to be able to read. Episode reminds me of UK rapper Akala's story of being put in a school for kids with special need as a youth despite being one of the brightest students in his class. I had issues with teachers in school growing up in Canada but never was it on the level of the UK. They were really blatantly failing our children in these schools.

It also reminded me how I had a racist 8th grade English teacher who hated me. When I got into HS they put me in a remedial ass English class in addition to the regular one because of her. I got out after one day my teacher said you're way too Intelligent for that idiot class

Akala too. They put him in the special needs class with kids that didn't speak english when he was 7. Didn't tell his mom, the only way they found out was through the pan-African saturday school.

This hits really close to home. I got family in the UK. My family ended up going from Trinidad to Canada between the 60s and 70s. Strange to think what my life would have been like if they had chose to go to London instead.
