Steph Curry playing defense now. Wow.
Kerr replacing Pop as the defacto best coach?

Warriors went from fewest passes per game 2013-2014 (6 seed, first round loss) to most passes per game 2014-2015 (1 seed, NBA championship) but yeah, Kerr made no difference, just lucky to be there
I think Kerr is a great coach. But I think those numbers are explained away by Draymond replacing David Lee in the lineup more than anything. To get rid of a noted black hole who a lot of the offense ran through to Draymond who's a great facilitator it makes perfect sense that the ball would move around a lot more. Kerr's offensive system played a part but if David Lee never got hurt I don't think the offense would've looked near as great.

The passing numbers can't be explained away by that.

Steph played a traditional PG role under Jackson, which means if Draymond played under Jackson, he wouldn't have been one of the main facilitators, and would've played a more conventional PF role. Kerr is the one that took Steph off the ball, which maximized Dray's skillset. That's all the system. The Warriors were #1 in passing in 2020 when Draymond only played half a season. The Warriors' system doesn't change no matter who's on the floor. It's always about sharing the ball. Draymond or no Draymond.

Obviously, the offense wouldn't have been as great if Lee was still starting, but the amount of passes the Warriors do would still be just as high.

The entire offense changed. By that time they weren't running the offense through David Lee. Steph was already the guy and Mark Jackson wanted to make Harrison Barnes a guy as well.

Lee's time was coming due anyway. The injury made it easy to put Draymond in. Draymond was forcing his way in. Warrior fans that followed them closely saw that Draymond brought all of those winning things that a team needs. Lee was declining before the injury. No defense and his shot was starting to fall short.

How do you figure that Lee's time was coming due and Draymond forced his way in? Kerr and others with Golden State all said they had no idea what they had in Draymond and that the Lee injury was a stroke of luck for them as that let them see how Draymond unlocked the team offensively and defensively. Lee had still put up 18 and 9 the previous year with no signs of fall off. Plus the starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, David Lee and Andrew Bogut had the best net rating the previous season so no reason to think they would've changed that up. It just turned out adding Draymond made it that much better.

Because it was obvious that David Lee was on the decline for one. They wanted to get better defensively.

There were rumblings that Draymond Green was a winning type of player. A guy that can defend and rebound.

Kerr has pissed me off MULTIPLE times this season

and even I can say he's been the best coach in these playoffs, and I don't think it's close right now.

One more round to go, but he's been coaching like it's his last game.
