Th Rockets GM: "b-b-b but the analytics, the numbers!" And then goes out and chases superstars every summer :mjlol:

Analytics would've definitely told him not to go after Josh Smith but he did it anyway. Bc analytics, while sometimes useful, are mostly garbage. Good players win, not a geek telling me someone likes to shoot more from the right corner instead of the left.

Analytics heavy teams still have yet to win a ring, and it'll stay that way. The analytics heavy Rockets just made it to the second round finally. OKC is watching from the couch. The Sixers love analytics and they're the worst team in the NBA. Don't give me the Spurs, they have 3 hall of famers.

"dont give me the team with the second largest analytic department in the league"

and the Mavs credit analytics for their ring

you cacs and c00ns are so fukkkin dumb. the issue here aint about analytics. its about the pool of qualified people you can hire from.

before analytics, the pool of qualified people to work in nba front offices and head coaching jobs was mostly former NBA players. and that pool was overwhelmingly black. and even then, racist white NBA owners still hired former white players in disproportionately high numbers. just think of any former white nba player and you'll notice they still got a job in the nba as either a coach, gm, or assistant. Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge, etc. (and thats just off one squad). now imagine what will happen if being a MIT or Stanford Business grad is what makes you qualified to run an NBA front office. the pool of qualified people will be almost entirely white. now the racist owners can choose guys just like them. no need to ever consider that other pool that is overwhelmingly black.

People like this are best used in the background and as assistants, not head coaches.

Stephen A. was saying in the video that head coaches that lean towards the analytics are the ones who are getting hired...if NBA coaches want to get hired then they need to get with it or find a team that doesn't care

The Spurs were winning before analytics and you will see next year once Tim Duncan retires how good those analytics work :sas1:

The Mavs analytic team surely told them Lebron was going to have the worst series and freeze up, I'm sure...

Analytics might help but talent will always be the main ingredient

whoever said otherwise? its always the anti-analytics squad who brings up strawmen arguments. no one who is pro analytics has ever said its the only thing to go by. it certainly will help improve the talent you do have though, by showing you how to use that talent properly, what lineups to go with, etc

Pretty much. Talent wins overall but analytics will tell you that a ball movement offense will give you a better chance to win than an iso heavy offense. Look at the raptors for instance, in 4 games the wizards had 200 more assists than them.
Do people think that's not important when considering what type of coach to hire? Black coaches should be able to adapt and use that technique when developing what type of offense they want to bring to the team.
