Espn can’t justify paying Greenberg more than Steven A. First Take gets higher ratings than Get Up and like everyone mentioned, Steven A is always on call and will do any show he’s asked to. Plus he does a National daily radio show in addition to everything else.

I remember he was on Best Damn Sports Show Period. Then ESPN scooped him up and his first run there was just as good as his current run, so much they gave him his own talk show.


That show bombed hard though and he kind of went into abyss after that where I think for awhile he returned to Philly covering Philly sports for one of the local outlets.

Woody Paige deciding the morning thing wasn't his forte was the best thing to happen to Stephen honestly.


Cuz eventually after Woody left and ESPN centered 1st and 10 to First Take and turned it into Skip's show, Stephen A came in and was the perfect counter host to Skip. His career regained momentum and now he's well deserved about to be ESPN's highest paid analyst.

Skip and Stephen go back to like 02. I remember they had a segment on Sunday Sporstcenter called old school vs new school. They was already cool. Skip brought Stephen A. back to Espn after he left after his show didnt do well. The fans liked their chemistry and he ended up being a mainstay. Skip had brought it up once when they was arguing and Stephen A told him just because you did dont mean nothing and he can leave.

I wonder if Woody now regrets that seeing how big first take has gotten considering that could have been him instead of Skip

I think Woody mom got sick so he went back to Denver to be close to her. Skip to his style and ran with it.
