What a shyt thread :scust:

While 'pickney' isn't a racial term, it originated from 'pickaniny' which is. And if you'll go to the second picture (in the post where you last had pictures) it says that.
It just like how {some} people don't consider ni@@a a racist term, but ni@@er is.

Exactly, and now that she learned something today she should refrain from using it out of respect to the people she loves so much.

I mean if she loved Jamaica so much she would learn some history and have Jamaican role models other than dancehall artists.

My family is from Antigua and they refer to the young ones in the family as pickneys

:whoa: This is not a defense of Strawberry, though ... it'd be one thing if she grew up in Jamaica and used the word, but she's a very proud border baby :francis:

I like the ebb and flow of fukkery in this thread. When you think the fukkeries wilted and died down, new branches of fukkery spring up. This ish going miles.:deadrose:

Anyway, @Strawberry The etymology is obvious. Pickney is short for piccaninny. This isn't made up. Throughout the Caribbean, patois language is a mix up of many different influences and origins in phrases and words. A lot of Jamaicans are unaware of the history of "pickney" because the word has been stripped of its original negative connotations. It's comparable to "nikka" among the AA's. I've never read or heard an AA say "My ******" always "my nikka" The nomenclature makes the difference. When it comes to "pickney", there's a good blog post about this on the net :The piccaninny stereotype
Do read, since you're determined to make these pickneys.:gurl:

Earlier you said you were daggering and "whining" The word is "wine"

I'm from the Islands so I know my stuff

Now carry on :dame:

I don't know who brought up pickney but the tone alone that Jamaicans bust that shyt oit on you is on some next level shyt. There's more to that word than just "child"

@Strawberry nikkas not from Jamaica telling Jamaicans what their own words mean:dead::dead::dead:

Thats African Americans in a nutshell.. This whole country is just full of ignorant Debbie Downers who are lost and have no idea what country they originated from...

Its really a shame
