I can cook and clean my damn self. I'm married and can not see any value in having a housewife
i'd rather have my wife out there working and bringing home $$$ to make our lifestyle better. some of these guys are holding on to gender roles that originated back when women didn't have any rights and couldn't do shyt else but sit at home and house keep and have kids. if my wife could work and double our income i'm all for that. we can drop the kids off at their grandparents house while she works.

Just because you don't want one doesn't mean there's not any value in it.

Why don't you hop on your real screen name say this? Every time you post in more controversial threads, a little bit more of who ya really are pops out because you've said the same/similar stuff under that screen name as well :pachaha:

I could understand once the kids got old enough to go to school. But for the first 6 years it is more beneficial and even ideal to have a parent at home spending time with the child and handling house duties.

@ the bolded Most people don't have that option. People are staying in the workforce longer these days. Chances are If your having your kids before your 35 their grandparents are still working.

And by your logic shouldn't those grandparents be at work not sitting at home watching kids?

I dont want to be a stay at home mom all 18yrs. Just until they're 1/2 or 2. I did that with my son. But its more beneficial for babies to go to daycare. Learn how to play along others, share, deal with different personalities etc.

I agree. For myself, I was thinking until they start pre-school. I'd definitely have them in daycare for 3 days out the week (the daycare centers that have cameras which would allow me to log into remotely and check and check on my child). Also there are a lot of stay at home mom/dad groups that people join, where they connect with other stay at home parents, which allows both parent and child to be social.

i disagree. my mom stayed home with me until i was 5 years old. i had 9 cousins in close proximity and close ages that were constantly around. i had A LOT of socialization skills by the time kindergarten came around. i was also smarter and a more precocious child than most the kids in my class that went to daycare centers ..thanks to my mom home schooling me from birth. NOTHING beats the love and education from a MOTHER the few years of life.

problem is a lot of mothers now are lazy and don't actually "teach" their infants anything the first few years. TV has become the replacement educational tool for lazy mothers of this younger generation.

Yea, but u cant speak for everyone. Theres just as many homeschooled kids that are socially inept, closed.off and not good at making or keeping friends. Everyones different.

You turned out great for homeschooling. My son has been in daycare since 18 months. Hes 4 now and I get compliments left and right about how advanced he is for 4. His vocab, his writing, spelling everything.

He get that from me  Proud Parent!!!!!

It can go either way as far as daycare or stay at home parent goes

My mother has been working at daycare for about 20 yrs and what she says is that if you mix in daycare and stay at home they get the best of both worlds.

there's a lot of shyt in study, whats beneficial for what

at the end the highest correlation of success of a child is the parent's financial success. #1 predictor for salary, sat scores, mcat scores, school performance etc

however, for some people, cutting day care costs etc is more financially beneficial than that one parent (dad/mom) working
