Casino definitely has the Goodfellas vibe but thats by design...but it's still it's own film. And some ways more detailed of the mob life. More violent and Pesci is arguably more entertaining in Casino. Both to me are classics.Spinoff of @H.R. Puff-N-Bluntz thread on comic book opinions, but just on movies. Could be directors, movies, actors, film characters, whatever. No judging, this is a safe space:maybe:
*I'm not a big fan of 2001. I've watched it several times trying to figure out what am I missing and each time I come away going "meh"
*Hook is a good movie.
*I know the Coens and QT and Fincher and a lot of other directors get a lot of love (rightfully so) but Spielberg is still the greatest living director on the planet.
*Casino feels too much like a Goodfellas sequel to really hold a place in my heart or mind.

i love the 1st oneNot a big fan of part 2. The original for me in unfukkwitable.
I think mainly the narration and directing style is what makes it seem so goodfellas and peci being a nut. Other than that they two totally different films.I wouldn't argue with anyone who says its a classic or a great flick but for me, it's just the same tricks as goodfellas but not as good. Doesn't mean it's not a good flick, just never been that great to me

I'm dissing u bruh, just discussing. And yeah its an upper echelon flick. Too much fukkery and classic dialogue and scenes. Not to mention the brutality and overall style of the movie. One thing that brings the movie down for me is Sharon Stone. She's so fukking annoying, but that's just good actng. Nonetheless she kills me.Lol that's cool breh, that's why I said I wouldn't argue with someone who feels like it's a classic flick and one of his greats. It's not for me. If you feel like it is, I can't argue with you on it. Just doesn't work for me as some of his other ones do. I'm not mad at it for existing or anything. If you think it belongs in that upper echelon of Scorsese flicks, thats cool and the gang homie
Lowkey Batman and Robin is an underrated flick
I can't watch any DDL movie without falling asleep
No country for old men is boring to all hell

Yes Scorsese is maybe the most consistent. And I'm not big on the Aviator, never bought Leo's performance. Not big on Shutter Island, it's a one hitter quitter, not enough going on. Mean Streets is his most underrated flick, such a cool little movie. It was Goodfellas before goodfellas.I'd say Batman Forever is the underrated one
Well mostly to me, it's a good flick. It's certainly still in the mold of the tricks and things he perfected in goodfellas but i guess for me the story isn't as interesting and of course you've got Stone's character who grates me, along with Rothstein, who I could never really get a beat on. It just feels like it's not as fully formed as goodfellas and not as well thought out. And that energy isn't the same. All of the acting is on point though, no way around that and it's still a good flick just not great to me. I'd take the aviator over that in terms of Scorsese flicks.
I think he's the one director who's had a great movie every decade he's been active: Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Departed (or the aviator) and the wolf of wall street. I can't think of any cat from his era who's managed to stay that relevant consistently
