putting on my conspiracy hat here, but the fact that Sony DIDN’T say God of War Ragnarok or TLOU/Factions wouldn’t be there means theres a probability (even a low one) that they are. The last state of play specifically said it was for 3rd parties also and we still got the Returnal Expansion announcement in there.

The State of Play last July said this:

This showcase will not include updates on the next God of War, Horizon Forbidden West or the next generation of PlayStation VR. Stay tuned throughout the summer though, as we’ll have more updates soon.

They know how much people want info on God of War right now so them not setting the expectation that its not gonna be there again like they did before it a way bigger clue than them saying it IS gonna be there.

Thats just what I think. I think theres not really much time left to announce 2022 playstation games if not now. They also don’t usually give a full week notice unless there are big announcements.

There’s also the possibility that Sony throws Keighly a bone

They did say they're revealing new stuff, and a State of Play is the perfect place to reveal TLOU Remake and Factions, and I'm assuming Returnal on Steam and Helldivers 2. FF16 is likely too since we barely saw anything so an updated trailer would help hold people over until whenever it comes out.

God of War Ragnarök is at a point where people want to see more than a trailer. People want a deep dive and a release date. There's no way they're going to squeeze all that in a short 30 minute State of Play (along with other game reveals). I think GOWR will either get its own dedicated State of Play or will be part of an upcoming showcase. Sony is going to want everyone to see GOWR too so they will announce it before a show happens.

Sony is unpredictable and they might announce a showcase a month after this upcoming State of Play, or a dedicated GOWR State of Play the following week.

Yeah, if we’re just following the cadence of last year, they did the Horizon State of Play in late May, (I think the 27th?) then skipped June because they had Rift Apart releasing the day before SGF, then they had the State of Play In July again for that had a couple small games and Deathloop, then the September show.

Sony also announced Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island expansion on July 1st, random and Keighly got Death Stranding Directors Cut.

In other Words, Its unlikely this is the only thing Sony will do until September.

Yeah I think we agree a 30 minute SOP isn't enough to cover everything Sony has on the docket right now, and Keighly's shyt isn't a place where Sony does big announcements and updates. We're definitely going to get another SOP this summer or maybe a full showcase.

They got all of the following due this year:
- GOWR update and release date
- PSVR2 full reveal (20 launch games) and release date
- FF16 update (and release date?)
- Forspoken update
- TLOU TV show, Part 1 Remake, and Factions 2 announcement
- 2nd GaaS game announcement (Helldivers 2)
- Returnal on PC announcement
- Harry Potter marketing
- Avatar marketing
- COD MW2 marketing

Then you got all the other stuff they've already announced which we should probably expect updates for, and if we're lucky, a trailer like: KOTOR Remake, Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Twisted Metal Reboot, etc. And then the unnamed stuff like Deviation's game, Firewalk's game, Haven's game, Bluepoint's new game, Bend's new game, Guerilla's second game, etc.

- GOWR update and release date - This is one I have no idea where it ends up, next week, Keighly, June or July SoP
- PSVR2 full reveal (20 launch games) and release date - most of this will be next week I think, maybe some 1st party saved for September showcase again
- FF16 update (and release date?) - Next week babay (tiny tina voice)
- Forspoken update - September showcase or a early fall State of Play
- TLOU TV show, Part 1 Remake, and Factions 2 announcement - I think this will come during Naughty Dogs ‘Outbreak Day’ which is late September
- 2nd GaaS game announcement (Helldivers 2) - One of those will be September Showcase and the other Factions will be Outbreak day
- Returnal on PC announcement - Possibly next week, although it feels soon with Uncharted and Sackboy still not being announced yet
- Harry Potter marketing - September showcase
- Avatar marketing - Keighly or September showcase
- COD MW2 marketing - they will do their own big reveal like usual and sony will market it in September showcase.

My predictions based on stuff mentioned…I think everything else will be regulated to blogpost or its own thing

Also, i thought for sure PSVR2 would drop next year but if they’re already showing off games, that almost guarantees it’s releasing this holiday. Thats pretty wild

God of War Ragnarok, Forspoken, PSVR2, and possibly another multiplayer game (factions) or 3rd party game (FF16)?

I agree with almost all of your predictions.

However, I think you're completely off about the TLOU shyt. There's no way they're announcing that stuff in September, if it's expected to come out this year. They need to give the public way more time to get hyped, especially for a TV show thats going to be geared towards new casual fans.

I think reveal trailers for the show, remake and Factions games are exactly the type of stuff Sony might give to Keighly to announce. And then they announce a release date for Outbreak day for the games. Returnal on PC seems like a Keighly thing too.

Side note - Sony is going to piss off a lot of people if they paywall Factions behind the TLOU remake. It would be really stupid if they do that, but its also one of those things where they're probably the only ones who could get away with doing that. shyt, Destiny was paywalled for years, and they just acquired Bungie.

The thing is I could see one of those things at Keighlys show, I can’t see them dropping the entire entree of Naughty Dog’s pipeline at SGF. Like, i could see TLOU tv show trailer and an announcement of remake or maybe just tease Factions, but all 3 sounds like overkill. Thats an entire showcase on its own and I dont think Sony are willing to give Keighly that much clout. I was even just thinking how big of a deal it would be just to have the next Ragnarok thing be at Keighly’s, that alone would be a big end cap.

That also just kind of dominates the show announcement wise. Like, that would be a dikk move on Sonys part.

Another reason I don’t think they will announce the multiplayer with remake unless its at a Sony or ND event. I don’t think the games will be packaged together. If i believe they are two separate things it because two different announcements.

I honestly hope thats not the route they’re going with Factions. The whole point was that it was a stand alone multiplayer game big enough to stand on its own. If they took it off Last of Us part 2 just to put it back on Last of Us part 1, they’re gonna be in for some shyt. I think the only paywall i can see being attached to Factions is PS Premium. The offerings for it so far are pretty trash, so they’re gonna have to find another way to sell people on it, like Nintendo did with the animal crossing and mario kart expansion DLC’s.

They should release the remake and Factions separately, mainly because the paywall is what kills most multiplayer games today. Maybe add some exclusive Factions skins when you purchase remake so there's still an additional Factions-related incentive to buy that.

But I know for a fact Jimbo sees the immediate money in bundling these things together and selling it this holiday, and then flipping the F2P switch later down the line. Maybe even toss in TLOU2 for the PC release of TLOU remake + Factions, that way they can justify a full retail price and also test drive a simultaneous release on console and PC for Remake and Factions. That's assuming Factions is coming to PC this year.

Not saying it'll be one way or the other, just saying this stuff is likely.

To me, it makes the most sense to bundle Remake and Part 2 (directors cut) together as The Last of Us : Firefly collection or something. Now that they have Bungie (in theory for now) they have to know that burying the multiplayer in the remake is a horrible idea. There are a lot of people already kind of turned off by a remake, but having it as part of a collection like Spider-man makes the most sense for it. A remake alone isn’t gonna sell the multiplayer, people are just gonna see it as a tacked on thing again.

They want Factions to launch on PC also im assuming, which makes even less sense bundling it. Factions should be a PUBG or Destiny type thing.
