I've been watching it for the last couple of months. I'm almost done with season 5. Some really great stand alone episodes this season and the mythology is stillI very strong. I'm curious to see if the drop in quality is really as bad as people are saying. Is the first movie any good?

First movie is really dope. Classic "X-Files" shyt.

The show falls off in season 7. The first couple eps are :wow: though.

I'd say half of season 7 is good. Not the first half or the second half, just half the eps.

Season 8 has some good "monster of the week" eps. Season 9 is pretty garbage all around.

When people say "fall off" they mean for a few reasons. #1 Mulder isn't in most of the last 2 seasons. #2 the show was supposed to end in season 7 so Chris Carter wrapped up a bunch of story arcs. The show was doing "Thriller" numbers though so Fox renewed it for 2 more seasons....meaning they had to make up shyt as they went along.

You weren't lying. Season 9 is absolute trash so far. Scully turning into a very unlikable character, Reyes being annoying as fukk, the whole Super Soldier storyline is awful and, most important, it's just a drag to watch. The only episode I thought was pretty good was John Doe. I don't even want to finish the whole thing (I'm on episode 11), thinking about watching the mythology episodes (plus Jump the Shark) just to have some closure on the storyline and go on to S10.

I really liked Season 8 though, the introduction of Doggett was executed really well and the Monsters of the Week were mostly good. I even liked the mythology episodes (Vienen is particulary great).

Finally got back into it after viewing the first 4 eps in Jan.

This show is :blessed: :mindblown: :ohhh: when you're blazed.

Just saw the ep with the nymphomaniac shape shifting ancient Amish alien race. :mindblown:

Almost done with season 5. Took me a year and change to get here. :heh:

Some of the "Monster of the Week" eps didn't interest me. The main storyline was what kept me invested more with the MOTW eps had me go in and out of paying attention.

The Smoking Man and Lone Gunmen origin stories were :banderas:

I don't like how they handled Mr. X 2's send off. So that shyt happens in Mulder's pad and they don't even give details on what happened after? Just swept him under the rug. :dahell:

Don't mean to respond to this way late but this is part of the reason why Vince Gilligan made "Breaking Bad". There was several plot points he'd try to ask the other writers about (like the one you just said) and they'd basically be like :manny: "nobody cares".
