JJ Abrams's derivative bullshyt was much better than Rian Johnson's "fukk your derivative bullshyt, I'm changing everything" and it took the entire trilogy wildly off course, which makes it even worse going forward. Star Wars was in a rough spot, and a cool guy "fukk your dumb decisions" approach was the absolute wrong way to go. maybe one day in a vacuum we might appreciate TLJ more, but i doubt it.

This is why Kathleen needs to go . I have no idea how someone can pitch you the middle idea of a trilogy and be like I don’t really care about any of the the TFA stuff really or the storylines he left open I just want to tell a women empowerment movie and she goes cool ! He should of got a side movie to do that , most everyone else wanted to see Luke as a competent Jedi and continue the development of Poe as a bad ass pilot and Finn into a bad ass solider . And how the first order came into power who’s snoke, etc

prequels the goat idc , the action and scenery cant be topped. so many different locations
lucas really took us through the glaxy like a mass effect game

I only liked Revenge of the Sith. Never watched Episode 2 in it's entirety. Saw bits and pieces of it when Spike TV used to have Star Wars marathons back in the day. I might sit through and watch it when Disney Plus debuts. I haven't watched Episode 1 in almost twenty years but I don't really remember liking it much which is why I never watched it again.

I wonder if Lucas regrets selling Star Wars to Disney. I mean he got a lot of flack for the prequels but everything Disney has done with the franchise except Rogue One has been garbage.

Ticket sales will be fine. Star Wars is so popular that it's stil going to eat. As much as a lot of people hated The Last Jedi, there were still enough to like it for it to make 1.3 billion. I dont see this flopping like Solo, because there are enough new generation kids that have developed an attachment to Rey and company and want to see more of them

I know it won't "flop" but I can see sales lower than TLJ. Trends are what you gotta watch for.

Who would’ve thought that when this trilogy was first announced we would be getting an final film with Palpatine and rumored cameos by Anakin, Obi Wan, Yoda, Luke, etc with absolutely no hype from the fanbase.

This. I'm not even that crazy about Rogue One... none of those characters were memorable. The second half of the movie was better than the first, and the Vader scene was piff, but I knew something was wrong when I left the theater not even remembering the names of a single protagonist.

Make no mistake, the Prequels are trash movies (word to Mr. Plinkett), but they're still better than TLJ in my book since they at least gave us something. We still got Darth Maul, Mace Windu, dope world building, a clear, overarching narrative, and a dope cartoon from the prequels. TLJ gave us nothing but a bunch of half-baked protagonists, porgs, and a Luke Skywalker whose character was completely wasted in these movies.

George Lucas is a goat-level world-builder, he just really needed a second pair of eyes to re-evaluate the plot details and subtle character interactions while working on the prequels. The overall idea of a trilogy focused on the rise and fall of Anakin is dope, but the excessive CG, unfocused character development, plot holes, overchoreographed fights, and wooden dialogue killed it.
