Yeah but you can expand the universe without trampling those who came before it. Not only that but Snoke was a new character that was introduced and Rian wiped him out too. That was a thread that he could have added layers to. He wiped out a bunch of people and plot points but didn't setup anything for the future.

In order for this movie to do everything justice it now has to build and also remove chess pieces all in one fluid motion. It's going to be very difficult to land.

Luke had all the hope in the world of redeeming his super evil pops. But his brat nephew is supposed to be so evil that Luke is shook and tries killing him

And even then Luke cant even do that as Kylo gets the best of him and so does Rey
