The OG trilogy is overrated. They had compelling characters, with no great story arcs. The script and dialogue for the time was ok, but that shyt hasn't aged well.

The 2nd trilogy, got CGI happy and they didn't improve upon the dialogue. In fact it got worse.

This new trilogy, had everything it needed this time around. Top notch VFX at their disposal. A giant in Disney which could bankroll it. But this time, they nailed the visuals, and didn't care too much about anything else.

What made Dark Vader epic, was mask and the voice. Kylo Ren, was supposed to carry that mantle. Instead, they wanted to show Adam Driver's face and let it be about him.

Lastly, this trilogy failed for 2 simple reasons.

1. they tried to rely heavily on nostalgia and carbon copied too much from the originals. And not only did it not go over well, but....

2. they crammed a 6 episode story arc, into 3 movies. And not only that, they made shyt up as they went along from one movie to the next.

Reddit was saying that lucas negotiated that there could be no reboot. Not sure how true that is.

Also kats like doomcock have said the reason they killed off all the OG characters was because disney had to pay lucas every time they were used to sell merchandise. Not sure how true that is. But Doomcock was right on damn near all the plot for this shyt show of a garbage movie.

That's not that much of a stretch at all. That's as Disney a move as it gets.

In the film's defense over the issue of how Rey gotten so powerful, keep in mind that she DID have the complete volumes of Jedi texts. So, if her training involved learning from the complete texts which she stole when she left Luke in TLJ.... then it is very likely that is how she was able to obtain supreme power. Bare in mind she also inherited the sith power too.

Yoda burnt the shyt out of those texts. And that's no explanation for her powers. Anakin had the entire Jedi temple and all their resources at his disposal for over a decade and got his arm chopped off by Dooku, then got the instrumentals from Obi Wan who isn't even a particularly powerful Jedi. And let's not act like Leia knew shyt about being a Jedi form training for a few months 30 years ago.

The audience score been stuck at 86% and doesn't make any sense...

The same people that hated TLJ, hate TROS and they pissed off all the Rose Tico Reylo stans...

I hate this dudes who act like TLJ was actually good. That movie was absolute trash. They keep trying to make this a RJ vs JJ thing when they both failed miserably. JJ is a hack who can only make carbon copies of prior material who refused to adapt this last movie and ultimately shat on 40+ years of character arches and development. And RJ is an a$$hole who decided to hijack the trilogy and make his own statement. Both of them clearly never understood or cared for Star Wars or the ridiculous Jedi powers they decided to toss in these movies wouldvt exist.

At the end of the day the real enemy is Kathleen. I wouldn't manage a school team essay they way she managed a multi billion dollar movie series .

To me the star wars movies have always been at best corny average sc-fi fantasy movies it the stories that are told outsides movie franchise that always appeal to me like for example in my opinion Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games have way better storytelling than the movies but that just my opinion
