Why would someone ride for Rian Johnson?

These critics are blind.

In some respects Rian Johnson did what needed to be done to this franchise. In the context of the whole franchise he made a weird movie that doesn't fit in with the rest. With that particular film he didn't pander and make a crowd pleasing predictable movie he totally shook things up. I didn't really care for the movie but I see the creative value in what was attempted.

Disney could have picked a fan off the street and they could have made better decisions than the team they had in place did. 3 random directors and no set in stone plot across all 3 movies. Approving Rian's movie knowing somebody else had to come in and wrap it up. Firing Colin when he ultimately couldn't and bringing back in JJ to reverse course when the general direction shouldn't have been changed anyway.

The final issue of all of this was it was a ready fire aim moment. They just wanted to hurry up and make money.

well Palpatine does kill her before Kylo gives his life essence to save her for what it's worth

but it doesn't matter, she still accomplishes things that no jedi or sith before her has accomplished, because she's just awesome. at the very thing that caused Anakin to go to the darkside in the first place being something these nikkas just pick up by accident. This movie is going to piss me off, but I just have to see it. It's like going to the morgue to ID a relative

I'm glad to see all the people mentioning this film going back on what Rian Johnson did. That might pollute the relationship between Disney and RJ and stop his trilogy from being made. Then Kathleen Kennedy can be fired

lol fukkin Rian Johnson took every thread from The Force Awakens and pissed on them. he was "rude" first. so ridiculous. The Last Jedi is gonna be a critical darling from here on out b/c the whiners on the internet acted like it was life or death that they get a great SW movie. ... and i acknowledge that right now i probably sound like one of them.

The first thing I said after Last Jedi was how much of a fukk you it was to JJ Abrahams, so people going at ROS being "rude" to RJ is ridiculous.

And I'm someone who liked were RJ took the Force stuff in TLJ. I actually resented TFA after watching Johnson's film because I realized it was a horrible sequel. I ended up wanting a film that could've set up RJ's stuff instead of him doing whatever the fukk he wanted and leaving this trilogy without any endgame.

That's why Kennedy is the one that deserves the most blame. She's the one that should've stepped in and made this dudes follow 1 path. Instead we ended up with 3 disjointed messes.

i don't even know where they go from here. the next movie needs to be different, but people are gonna give them shyt no matter what. the Mandalorian is solid, but without a cute meme machine, it's pretty boring. They do a young Solo movie no one wanted, Kenobi, which might be ok, and then decide "hey, remember that one dude from Rogue One? No, the 2nd in command guy who wasn't even remotely cool but had a wise cracking droid? Yeah, that dead dude from that movie that had an absolutely pointless storyline that no one ever had to see... him. He's getting a series." the fukk?

The need to go to the distant past and go full Jedi vs Sith. Not even touch a post Rise of Skywalker timeline in a long ass time.
