I dunno if it can surpass Empire, but it has a good chance to at least be 2nd best. All the other ones I wouldn't be bothered to watch again, but Empire i've probably watched at least a dozen times since I was a kid.

Padme and Leia were "main characters" but never used "The Force" and lightsabers. So it doesn't automatically mean that this new character would automatically = Jedi to some people, especially to the casuals. Star Wars hasn't had a female human Jedi and that will probably be the "big reveal" of the film if they don't blow it in the upcoming trailer. Right now she just looks like Padme 2.0. right down to her actual looks Whilst Finn is being shown using the lightsaber, getting ready to fight with it and being positioned to look like the main Jedi. I expect the new trailer to show more of him doing that, whilst the girl is just shown using guns and her staff() to keep the heat off.

I was big into the Star Wars thing back in the day but I'm not feeling this new one this new one. I've got a feeling it's going to be a cookie-cutter science-fiction action movie that everybody dikk rides for about a month then after that nobody will even remember what it was about .

I'm not expecting much from Disney. Star Wars is George Lucas to me without any kind of corporate filter.
