Wasn't a bad episode but not great I really want to like this show but it hasn't captured me yet.

I like this show, but it is hard to overlook how different it is (formula wise) from other Star Trek shows or even movies. It just doesn't feel like a Trek series. I still find it entertaining and enjoyable though.

I think this is why it is not doing anything for me.

And part of is is that in the prior series like TNG, DS9, Voyager, they were doing different shyt every episode instead of one damn thing. Those old shows had like 24 episode seasons and could so whatever. With 13 episodes you want each one to be tight as fukk. shyt, that Klingon war thing from season 1 could be a season 4 thing while they establish Discovery as its own thing.

I’m glad Pike has his own story arc but if they were gonna go down that path of having a “dark” Lorca then I wanted to see more of that and his random experiments.

And this Michael/Vulcan thing needs more finesse. If they are gonna bring Spock into this it has to be right and not just a ploy to bring in the traditional Trek crowd.

I actually thought this episode was the best one of the whole series so far, and it was the first time the show felt like it clicked.

I wish we would have started with stories like this instead of the Federation-Klingon War, which was ultimately a mess and didn't say or accomplish anything.

That Federation-Klingon shyt from season one coulda been a damn movie of its own. But broken up over a season where we have to learn who the whole cast is, that’s a tough task. shyt, look at how many people from season 1 who were interesting characters are not around now.

You can’t introduce these radically new looking Klingons and then not take a deeper dive into who they are.

Also, I think for some, this show looking so damn advanced is a gift/curse. Even Pike’s uniform from the Enterprise made shyt from the series before it look primitive. I think these costume and set designers just refuse to make wack shyt for the sake of canon and the audience just has to really look at Discovery as “the beginning” even tho TOS visually looks laughable now. But we overlook it because we have to.

Son. Is Burnham supposed to explain Uhura?

Spock: It's logical that am I attracted to you. You remind me of someone close to me. :picard:
