They should leave all the major TOS characters out of it. I know Adam Nimoy has a son. Maybe Leonard's grandson can do a silent walk on. If we are still following canon, Spock and Sarek shouldn't even be on speaking terms at this point. Anyway, Sarek has another son, Sybok. They should just retcon him into the show.

Yeah but this is Pike's Enterprise. So regardless of who you'd like to see on that ship the cast from this pilot episode are who will be on there (Spock included). Do they have the money to do a Blade Runner 2049 CGI face for Lenard Nimoy?

Unless the show is not going to be called Discovery anymore, we don't need to see the Enterprise and its crew in any kind of detail. Spock can be on away mission or otherwise indisposed. Maybe a far away CGI shot at most. I'm not sure the writers on this show have enough patience to write about a ship that doesn't have instantaneous travel anyway.

Breh, that was the cliffhanger, then they dropped that TOS end theme. They have no choice but to go that route now

Not including Spock after that tease would just piss people off

Star Wars is the best and worst thing to happen to Trek. Without the success of Star Wars in the late 70s, the TOS films probably never get made and we don't get TNG and everything that followed from 1987-2005. The success of Star Wars never affected the tone of the Trek though until JJ got a hold of it, now it's an action fest.
This is sorta kinda true they was already working on bringing the tv show back though as phase II so its impossible to say for sure.

I enjoyed this season, felt like a JJ Abrams Trek film (I actually loved the modern trilogy, and I love TOS/TNG/DS9 also, Yes ... it's actually possible to enjoy both) with some classic trek elements sprinkled in

Loved Tilly, she's probably my fav character so far, Michael did her thing struggling with the human emotions/vulcan rationality stuff, Seru (spelling) was dope and the gay dude held it down also.

Would like to see more of the black breh (don't know his name) the black chick with the locs and the android chick get some shine/backstory next season.

Overall I enjoyed myself, If I felt like I wasted my time watching this I wouldn't hesitate/bite my tongue and would certainly voice complaint.

but this is the internet where everything is either an instant classic or utter garbage

Middle ground does not exist on the internets

:manny:

edit:

Best episode of the series was the joint where they did the "live, die repeat" thing (I'm never good with episode names, sorry) That one stood out the most to me and it's what I'd recommend to someone who has an interest in the show but has never watched it, or any Star Trek related stuff for the matter.

I think they are going to use The CAGE as a basis and have Spock not yet joined the Enterprise. Recast Pike and have someone to play the female Number One in relation to Sarek and Michael. That will probably set up why Spock joins the Enterprise.

This definitely isn't the TOS. That Enterprise looked nothing like Kirk's.

I don't know how canon those tie-in novels are, but in the first one Spock is already on the Enterprise when Burnham and Saru were on the Shenzhou.

So there's a rumor that Number one from TOS's pilot episode will jump from the Enterprise and become the Discovery's Captain in Season 2

Seems plausible since she's definitely on that ship at the end (Along with Pike, Spock and company) and they were on route to picking up their "new" captain at the time.

That would be cool and a nod to Roddenberry wife.

But Burnham was reinstated to full rank so who's gonna be first officer?
