Sci-fi is my favorite genre and I would love to watch this but I'll wait until it comes out on something. I don't want to pay $10 for just one show.

Also, the reviews haven't been good. But...could that be only because a black woman is the lead character?

Actual critical reviews have been great, "fan" reviews haven't been good.
:mjpls:
Your assumption is largely correct. Long time Trek fans are also mad at the usual stuff.

I literally saw someone seriously arguing that the show was "too exciting" in a comment section.

What reviews have you read? Actual people who get paid for their reviews have been positive about the show. Can’t speak for YouTube shyt

Also it’s a free trial for a week man. Subscribe burn through the first three eps and if you’re not down cut it off. Simple

Yeah my homegirl and I were talking about the stereotypical Trek fans and it makes us both sad to call ourselves Trek fans lol. They live to bytch and moan. About every fukking thing. The most common complaint? The technology is too advanced lol

Brehs, this show is the real deal. The characters are fun and diverse, a couple of interesting plotlines (the war, tech, mystery, Burnham's redemption, etc). I like how they said fukk IT, this is a horror show halfway through the ep.

This. I just finished ep. 2 and about to jump on 3. This shyt is crack. In a way I’m glad the female captain died because her and Burnham going to the Klingon ship was ridiculous as if no other male could’ve gone but it was a way to kill off the captain honorably and push this story line alone. captain was irrational as fukk (along with the admiral) but you can help but see Burnham’s character as a female Kirk from the rebooted movies (rebel without a cause with a reputation that preceded them)

The visuals on his show are good (even the strang looking Klingons) and it deserves to be on a network instead of a streaming service (unless it was Netflix in the US). Why spend $8 mil per episode (which is a lot of fukkin $) and not try to get some of it back via network TV. The didnt do that to the new Sheldon show, so why do it to a sci-fi show that debuted damn near the same week.

The year 3030
third ep felt more like alien than ST.

gonna be interesting where they go with it...just hope it doesn't turn into alien w/ whatever they're cultivating running loose.

We'll never know. Puzzling ain't it:mjpls:

Or the more obvious reason: sci fi done on the level they’re doing is expensive. The other reason is, from what I’ve heard on Star Trek podcasts, the regime at cbs has never been big on Star Trek. They tolerate it lol but it’s never been their go to baby. They wanted to take advantage of it though because it’s a valuable IP so they want that value to translate to new subscribers for their streaming service. A service they desperately need to start paying off for them. Star Trek is the kid they want to ignore but can’t because it does so well in school

Yeah. If there was ever a franchise that deserved the premium tv treatment, it's Star Trek. Big name, big concepts, big budget. Seems to me that they want to make CBS All Access successful on the back of Star Trek and American consumers. They've got the global Netflix money to keep the show in the black until they get it where they want it.

Never let them forget when CBSAA is doing numbers that it took #blackexcellence to make it happen. And not just Sonequa :noah:, either.
