The Second Evolution was released here.

And I’ve played this game countless times with emulators over the years and i owned the original. Again, I’ve had MY fill. I’m not telling anyone not to buy it
I forgot that PSP version was released.

This is a great remake but the plot pretty much falls apart when the Ten Wise Men are introduced. The first half of the game is way stronger. As a kid I never made it as far as I have now. I’m pretty much at the end of the game now. Hopefully the ending is decent.

This worth it for someone who never played the original?

I've played some of the newer Star Ocean games (Edge Maverick :scust: )but none of the old 2D ones.

It's an 8/10 level game. If you never played the original and are open to playing classic style RPG yeah it's worth it. This is way better than the modern Star Ocean games. I do feel like the first half of the game is much stronger. The antagonists come out of nowhere and don't get much development.

Finally getting around to this now - the combat is just ok but otherwise this an RPG ass RPG. The amount of shyt you can do is incredible,

Also I realised way too late you could recruit characters. :francis:

There's a reason Star Ocean games came out AFTER this original one on the Psx. This was so good, they kept giving the series a chance in hopes of making another one, but failed. It's safe to say that EVERY Star Ocean after this going up was open air conditioned ass cheeks, breh in comparison. This is one of my Top 10 rpgs of all time, yes, but even without the bias....it's miles above the other Star Ocean games of current.

The first half of this game is way better than the second. The antagonist are pretty meh and when they get introduced it has the Final Fantasy XVI effect. Game was better when it was about things other than defeating the antagonists.

I've done two of the "field" parts in the second half of the game, how much of the game is left?

Game is surprisingly fun :ehh: no real complaints

Although I hate how if a character is KO'd when the battle ends they don't get any EXP. You can end up with one of your characters way behind if they die in a boss fight and you don't revive them before you win :martin:

Other than that it's just a solid JRPG. I'm at the part where you're about to go to the front lines or whatever.
