Anyone gonna show some love for his Bachman books?

I am including Rage in there, even if he doesn't want it to exist any more.

The Long Walk is a fantastic book.

I may get thrown in the bushes, but other than the Dark Tower books my favorite novel of his may be Eyes of the Dragon and he wrote that for his kids.

Might be one of his most underrated books. I put my son on King with that one.

Actually, when I said I read The Stand I was mistaken. It was Needful Things I actually read! I forgot most of it tho. I need to pick it up and read it again.

but do yourself a favor and at least read books 1 2 3

the rest are good but 2 and 3 are some of the best books I've ever read

But damn is it worth it. I pretty much agree with your assessment of books 2 and 3, and I'd even throw 4 in there too. When I first started reading it, it threw me for a loop, but young Roland's story is now one of my favorites. Eddie Dean is probably one of my favorite King characters too. The growth and development he showed from book 2 to book 7 :wow:. He's the perfect foil to Roland.

If anybody is hesitant on jumping into such a long collection the audio books are excellent and the guys who read them do a great job of capturing the characters. I already know if the movie and tv show project ever gets done the first thing I'm gonna be critical of is the voices. Frank Muller spoiled me.

Aside from the less than totally satisfying ending I thought Under The Dome was vintage King.

Man I hated that ending:damn:

The one scene I remember from Salems Lot was the vampire boy knocking at the window. That shyt had me shook as a kid.

And up until just now, I thought it was a movie. Didn't know it was a mini series. fukk that tho, I ain't never watching it again.

Salem's Lot was epic. But the thing that messed with my mind the most was the epilogue… when all that evil stuff went down in the abandoned church, that actually had me disturbed after I put the book down. Only other Stephen King books I've read are 'The Shining' and 'Night Shift' - both great books.

What has stopped me from reading others is that they sound a little random, the book descriptions put me off. If I enjoyed Salem's Lot, what other books would you recommend? I only read the Shining as I liked the movie...

Word to mother, that book would make a dope miniseries but it needs to be on HBO, that movie original movie back in the 90s was trash.
