Stanning aside, Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot is one of the GOAT horror novels

:whoa:

That's one of the biggest misconceptions that King fell off. I just read "Everything's Eventual". Crack. After that I read "Full Dark, No Stars". More crack.

Does he have a few weak books/stories? Of course. But he's been doing this for 39 years. Dude's ratio of good:bad is 80:20 I'd say.

And at least he's still writing horror. He's rich, he could've retired. Or got on some Andre shyt like Clive Barker and tried to "branch out artistically". :stopitslime:

Fred.

:whoa:

I know I actually said it, but I didnt really mean he fell off. I shoulda worded it different.

Just comparing his work from the 80's and maybe early 90's to now is kinda :mindblown: at the quality difference.

But Cell & 11/22/63 is King in rare form though :ooh:

It's really bananas when you think about how many books and stories he tied into the "Dark Tower" series.

What? :wtf:

Fred.

He's prolly speaking on what Spike Lee said about how he wasnt feeling the Henry Bowers character and his goons in IT using the N word so much in the book, but he was writing a fukking STORY where some of it took place in 1957-58 when that shyt really went down in the open and anything else woulda make the book fake fairy tale trash. And Im usually a Spike Lee stan too, but he caught an L for that.

Def prefer his older work but i always copped his short stories. But his old grimey shyt was pure madness.

mos def :salute: I would be a bytch to edit my OP, but all I mean was his early shyt went so hard, just like all these rappers shyt is better on they first album.

Stephen King was hungry and was just in his bag with his first 3 books and then all the books in the 80's (minus a couple though)

Yes, it really happened.

I'll see if I can google up that interview with Spike. Basically, it was in the same vein as his bytching about Quentin writing the N word into his scripts.

I remember him saying he was reading King books when they are hot off the pressing machine, and him reading IT and saying he never read Stephen King again after that book.

Said his family approached him and dumped the trashcan in his writing room on the floor and it was all cigarette butts, joint roaches, empty liquor and beer bottles, and empty bottles of cough syrup and nyquil, bloody tissue from sniffing so much coke his nose was bleeding and said "This is unacceptable"

And he quit everything right after that :salute:

But I wish he would get back on that weed coke liquor and cough syrup for one more book :noah:
