:francis: Been saying this for years. Both Marvel & DC should just use more of their actual Black Heroes/Villains/Supporting characters from the comics instead of changing the race of an already established character.

i.e. Instead of making Perry White black in "Man of Steel" They could have just used the black reporter Ron Troupe in the movie. Instead of making Electro Black in ASM2 they could've used the Prowler, Tombstone, Rocket Racer, or etc.

Al Simmons the GOAT :blessed:

I kinda agree with both. Spider-Man is Spider-Man. Then again I'm against changing characters basically across the board.

The problem is actual black super heroes don't get promoted so they occasionally turn a more popular super hero black. It's stupid. Just give Black Panther, Cage, whoever, the same promo as your A-listers and see what happens.

Fred.

Agreed.

This is one thing I can agree with when it comes to casting these characters. Stay true to the characters and promote the black heroes the same way you promote the white ones. Making Spider-Man a black Peter Parker is as stupid as making Power-Man a white Luke Cage.

I hate when they cast black actors as traditionally white characters because it's saying that the ACTUAL black characters are inferior. fukk that.

Isn't Thor a female now in the comic books?
Anyway, it's fiction. I've never cared.
It's just funny for a nation that purportedly doesn't see color, minority representation in films bothers a large sector.
When Hunger Games fans found out Rue was African American?

I don't have a problem with him staying white. But I don't think him being white in the beginning is a reason not to ever change his origins. Comic book characters change story arcs all the time. There is no reason Superman, Batman, or Spiderman couldn't be black. But there is a reason for instance that Black Panther can't be white. There is a reason that Black Widow has to be white.....unless of course they say that she isn't from Russia....then of course her story could change too. Think about it. When it comes to Superman, this damn alien is shot across the galaxy and just happens to land not only in America, but a less populated region of the country. And he just happens to be an alien that looks all American? The nerve of white folks to think that other more advanced civilizations throughout the galaxy just happens to look like them. If not, they completely different with big eyes and big heads. As if it would be totally impossible for an advanced super race was to show up in a space ship and look like LeBron James.......which would probably be more plausible given the sh!t that he does on the court.

The problem isn't known heroes having a turn being minorities, the problem is minority heroes never having a turn.

I just love how WE'RE called minorities when white people are the minority across the world. I know you didn't mean anything, its just for some reason it jumped out at me today. Just how did we let them brainwash us into accepting that....:snoop: its like a tall person letting a midget convince him he's short. Movies are a global medium, people outside of the western world watch yet, white characters are seen as "standard" while we're seen as "less than". It's funny. There's 1 billion of us. 700 million of them. It's crazy.

It bothers white men, who're insecure, and who're the largest consumers of western media. Everyone is supposed to watch them saving the world. They can't watch anyone else. They can't watch strong black men, nor strong asian men, nor strong hispanic men. It's insulting and it's selfish. I wish all non-white people boycotted their movies like white people refuse to see ours. They'd be on suicide watch when those international numbers ended up garbage and no blacks/latinos/asians saw them in the states.
