No Parker & Duncan, Spurs fall to Blazers 137-97 - Yahoo! Sports

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said before the game that he was resting Parker and Duncan because the Spurs were playing three games in four nights. Parker, who had not missed a game this season, is averaging 19.5 points per game, while Duncan's averaging 19.9 points and 8.6 rebounds.

San Antonio was also without guard Manu Ginobili for the second straight game because of a strained left oblique. Ginobili is expected to miss two weeks. Brazilian forward Tiago Splitter was also out for a second straight game with a right calf strain.

''It would be great if I would still be able to play Manu and Tiago tonight and still rest Tony and Tim, but that's not the case,'' Popovich said. ''Those guys are out, but I can't run our guys into the ground when it's time for them to rest based on the schedule and the time they've been playing.

Seems like the same thing occurred last year as well....

I understand the business aspects but pop should have the right to rest his players... Natl tv game or not

Naw breh, stop acting like it was just some innocent shyt. He didn't just rest his players, he did it for one of the biggest regular season games of the year on primetime TV. Not to mention they played the fukking Magic and Wizards in the previous days and didn't rest no damn body. :shaq2:

At the top.
I get what the league is saying from a money perspective but this is something that is done by a lot of teams at various points during the season. Really shouldn't matter if its the beginning or the end.

Pop was trolling as usual but he got results. His "bench" players nearly beat the Heat AND they beat the Grizzlies which to them was probably the more important game (being from same conference) Dude was playing chess, not checkers.

:whew: at Duncan giving Gasol that work

Stop it, nobody pays money to see the spurs

You don't think part of the reason the game was on TNT was because it was the Spurs?

They have 19 national tv games left, including the Jazz, Portland, Philly and Minny, teams where the Spurs are the draw.

Naw, minus the stars the Spurs are Wizard status. People aren't anxious to pay to see the damn Wizards. They pay to see the real Spurs.

I got your flawed point and exposed it ya bish

Yeah ok. Other people got what I was sayin tho. Its all good. Popovich is a whining bytch. All teams have long road stretches, playin 4 back to back games on the road. Why should the Spurs be excluded from playin starters. The players get paid to play basketball, this notion of players bein "too tired" 17 games into the season is totall bullshhyt. The NBA is a star driven league, sittin starters 17 games in is bullshhyt.

U can take my analogy a step further, if the Jackson 5 went on tour and Joe Jackson decided to sit Michael Jackson down, because he wanted to rest him, u don't think fans would be outraged to only see the back up singers perform? People would want their money back. But I'm sure your lack of intellengence won't allow u to understand my Jackson 5 analogy either.:comeon:
