That's only a bad deal for teams who can actually draw free agents and has a core they actually want to build around. For Orlando Schroeder would be a decent stop gap PG to hold them down until they eventually find one they like.

You don’t acquire someone to be a stopgap PG if they have roughly 3 years, $50 mil left on their deal. Keep in mind that they’re likely gonna give Aaron Gordon the max or near-max, and they already have Fournier/Ross/Biyombo signed to bloated contracts

What y'all think of something involving Schroder for Vucevic? :jbhmm:

Not that great of a deal for Orlando when you consider Schroeder has 3 years left on his deal and Vuc is an expiring

^^ this is what I was gonna say.

15.5 for Schroder till after the 2021 season? Nah, we good. Thats not a stop gap. Thats a damn near full fledged commitment. We need perimeter scoring, but I don't think its a fit.

Well I wasn't thinking it would be straight up, they'd probably have Atlanta spice the deal up by giving up a future pick.

I think no matter where they decide to trade Dennis they'd have to give up an asset for him because I don't think any team really needs a player like him at his salary.

I think the only way a trade with Orlando and Atlanta works is if we trade bad contract for bad contract. It would have to be something more like Biyombo for Schroeder. Biyombo makes 1.5 mil more per year, but has 1 year less on his deal.

Who else can Orlando really go after though at the PG slot? The only other name that comes to mind is Kemba.

Kemba will hit free agency next year, and he'll command more than the $15M Schroder will be making, and he's still 24. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of him, he's definitely a starting caliber PG and you've got him locked up relatively cheap for a few seasons still.

Other than that there's nobody else of that caliber hitting the market this year or next, and the draft next year doesn't have an elite talent at the position.

I guess there is Isaiah too but that's more risky than the other names I mentioned.

Zero chance of that happening. We need Dennis right now. Trae needs to be a backup in year 1. Even then, we want an asset for Dennis.

If you were the Magic would you rather pay Schroder $15.5 mil a year for the next 3 years or pay Fred VanVleet maybe half that?

Fred VanFleet as Dennis won't be available this off-season unless Atlanta gets an asset which is highly unlikely.

Cavaliers Behaving As Though They Expect LeBron James To Leave
JUN 26, 2018 4:57 PM

James_LeBron_cle_180224.jpg

The Cleveland Cavaliers have begun to behave as though they expect LeBron James to leave this offseason.

James has until June 29th to decide whether to opt out for free agency.

James is expected to choose between the Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers.

Brian Windhorst also said during his ESPN Cleveland radio appearance that there are only four people who know what James is going to do and those people are not talking.

Sexton (Draft)
Hood (Resign)
LeBron (Opt out and resign)
Love (Under Contact)
Jordan (Traded for Hill and TT)

Off the bench: J.R. Smith(Under Contact), Clarkson(Under Contact), Gallo(Traded for Hill and TT), Frye(Sign for Min), Green(Resign for Min), and Nance(Under Contact)
Why would he resign ?? Bron has proven over time role players who can create for themselves numbers usually drop playing with him.

Hood would excel much better elsewhere

There's Kemba.
Isiah.

And a name that I haven't heard anyone mention (I'm pretty sure he's a FA) is Tyreke Evans.

I like VanVleet. Im not sure I'd like him to start.. but he's better than anything we've got right now.. so if its not breaking the bank, I'm all for bringing him in.
