nugs need to max jokic, let the young fellas continue to progress, and just let all that excess salary come off the books going into ‘19

I know malone/ownership are fiending for immediate success, but I thought faried + 14 to shed salary would have been such a short-sighted move. and now they got mpj out of it.

Yup. Losing Jokic next year because ownership was cheap and tried to squeeze another cheap year out of him would be franchise crippling. They’ll have room to sign someone to a max deal next year, or to go find the perfect role players to put around the young core.

Just suck it up and pay the luxury tax for a year. Only reason they’re even in it is that dumb ass contract they gave to plumlee. You don’t compound the mistake of trading nurk AND a first for plumlee by overpaying to keep him, then compound it again by losing an asset to shed salary to save a billionaire some money.
