Houston Rockets small forward Trevor Ariza will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and the veteran is looking to cash in on a big payday.

According to a report from Rockets Wire, Ariza is believed to want a contract in the range of $50-60 million over 4-5 years, more than $30-40 million Houston would likely offer him.

In 67 games with the Rockets this past season, Ariza averaged 11.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three. He made $7.4 million in 2017-18.

Ariza won the 2009 NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. Per ESPN reporter Chris Haynes, the Golden State Warriors internally have discussed going after the swingman. Ariza, however, would need to take a substantial pay-cut in order to join the Warriors.

Rockets point guard Chris Paul will be an unrestricted free agent this summer as well, while center Clint Capela will be a restricted free agent. The club also plans to pursue both LeBron Jamesand Paul George.

Not a good summer to be a free agent. Last year and year before was the time.

Is it a forgone conclusion that Lebron can’t convince a star to navigate their way to the Cavs via trade?
