Situation in Haiti is DIRE.
The "bu bu but colonialism, imperialism" comments the past few months from some quarters are deflections from the actual reality.

Country cannot address security of P-au-P without foreign intervention. Otherwise, the problems are spreading, and will continue to because Haitian govt is incapable of containing it without outside help.

Why can't the diaspora organize and give our best shot at bringing stability? Isn't a large part of Haiti's economy the remittances sent from around the world, don't we already have the influence?

I LOVE Sis, but she's reaching here. The P-au-P airport just opened back up in May after being shut down in March because gangs had fired upon it.
And only reopened after outsider forces had secured the area around it.

The country couldn't protect/defend the airport then,,and cannot do it today.
Because of that, the police & govt cannot rule out whether there are sleeper cells of gangs in other parts of the country. And whether planes arriving in Au Cap would be in danger.

After the plane was shot at in Texas, US law enforcement agencies are working to locate,,arrest shooter, and upgrade security to prevent it from happening again. Fed and state resources at work.

Not even close to what the response and reality is in Haiti.

looking at location, a country is geographically located to a ''hostile'' nation. sometimes if you cause enough instability people will call for your help, thats when you take over and set proper base n all that.
