None of the soldiers that I know ever wanted to spend a lot of time talking about it. I've never met someone that served in the military that was into telling a bunch of military stories. The only time they spoke on it was when they were asked.

If I met a person who was going around being gung-ho about it, trying to get folks to listen to stories all the time, I would assume they're cappin.

As a former Army reservist, I couldn't care less, but I can understand how some past/current military people might be upset/angry.

One time I was in a psych ward and this white guy was talking all about his service, and how he got addicted to heroin and opioids after his tours in Iraq. People went easy on him and gave him a pass for his Republican white guy/Trump supporting shyt he would talk.

Turns out he was a pedophile lying about his service and he got sentenced to 10 years for raping a 13 year old.

That shyt is some hoe shyt and I understand why people don’t tolerate that shyt.

I'm a military contractor and everyone in my office is prior service. All of us have deployed except one guy. We never talk about things we did down range. No need to....

Conversations might come up from time to time about military processes and how it pretains to current work issues or military traditions like this one. https://www.thecoli.com/threads/how-many-of-you-navy-brehs-have-crossed-the-line-pause.964896/

I dont deify military so I dont give a fukk per se

I find it an alarming lack of self esteem to cosplay as a military guy tho......are the perks that military get in the civilian world even worth the effort? free shyt, soldier groupies(which is probably a whole other topic by itself lol) etc

All my nikkas from Memphis joined the Marines, all did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, all but 1 saw combat (he was a mechanic). My boy is a Gunnery Sgt and is retiring this year if he hasnt already. None of them give a fukk about stolen valor. They know they, like everyone else, joined because they didnt have any real earning potential or options available to them when they graduated. Were or wouldve been working retail or other dead end jobs. So they enlisted. All that "honor" and "my country" "9/11" shyt is fugazi to try and erase the real reason these people joined. Because it was the best they could do at the time. A real nikka will keep it a buck. "I needed somebody to pay for school." or "I aint have shyt going on so fukk it. Might go to some cool places"

Thats it. Combat doesnt matter cause they all saw it and still dont care. Its a personality thing. If you have no strong pride or sense of self, youll be the type whos entire identity is a job you had or being in the service.

When I was recruiting I always pitched the "I can get you a 50k bonus and a dodge charger" line.

The only people signing up based on "I want to serve my country" are white boys with shyty asvab scores from dead end towns.

Just thought about this skit.
