13 was the last good year they had. 14 started off bad but picked up with Mania. They’ve permanently fallen off the cliff quality wise ever since like Spring 2014 though. 2013 was one of the last times I felt like they genuinely tried to tell the best stories possible, most of Punk’s feuds that year were examples of that, Bryan’s ascension to the top from Team Hell No, the reintroduction of Jack Swagger had buzz (even if only temporarily) Salmon Jacket Mark Henry happened, the Shield’s feud with the Rhodes boys, etc. Ever since then things have steadily dropped to where there are really no storylines, there’s not really much character progression, there’s mostly just aimless dudes wrestling with no programs, or very basic ones. I know there’s an appreciation thread for 2015 too, and to me that was the exemplification of the creative slump on a calendar level.

TL:DR 13 was the last good full year of WWE TV

I wasn't watching at the time but I remember AJ's pipebomb making a little splash on social media. Did anything come from that?

Yeah..his merchandise blew up, got jobbed to Cripple H for literally no reason and then teamed up with him with no issues the next month like it was all good:laugh:..he mase no splash on ratings. Couldnt fill up arenas and eventually getting 2.4s until the Rock returned, took the belt, and they almost got a 4.0 the next week.

This is the big thing. Wrestlemania was awful and built solely around Cena and la nariz getting their wins back, but they seemed to have actual plans for a good chunk of the year. Guys still sorta progressed up the card in a semi gradual manner. Look at how long Miz has been in the IC title picture in modern times. He’s been around the belt basically since July 2014. Either cut bait with him or bump him up to the main event at this point. Spot on about no programs too. What the fukk are absolution and the riot squad even doing beyond wrestling random matches every week? What the fukk are they doing with Rollins competing for the IC title after 6 years on the main roster and clearly being a main event level guy? Who has worked their way up the card besides Braun in recent years? It seems like any feud they book now is basically just about nothing these days if it’s not about the title.

This Championship Ascension Ceremony was great, the fukkery towards the end and a little bit of storytelling at the end with Cena standing tall with The Authority after Orton was already having trust issues with them.
