How did shyt get so bad in a hurry? Yeah there were complaints in 2013 but WWE was 100x better than it is now, star power across the board.

Starting with The Rock vs CM Punk: I'll give credit to The Rock, he was a part timer that became WWE Champion but at least he didn't take two months off as Champion, it was justifiable that he couldn't show up all the time because of his schedule but he made it work, it helps when you have an all time great like CM Punk to work with.

The Shield: The Shield pretty much took over WWE in 2013 and was an important piece in major feuds. From helping CM Punk but at the same time costing him the WWE Title to putting a vicious beatdown on The Undertaker to being the Authority's henchmen, the Shield were a force to be reckoned with.

Triple H vs Brock Lesnar: Triple H trying to avenge his loss against Lesnar in 2012 (where he shamlessly tried to milk a reaction with alligator tears) but regardless, back when Paul Heyman didn't cut the same promo and Brock before the suplex city gimmick.

CM Punk vs The Undertaker: The best Undertaker feud in years, CM Punk was a dangerous man with nothing to lose after losing the WWE Title to The Rock at Elimination Chamber. Punk tried his best to get under Taker's skin, even mocking Paul Bearer after he died.

Dolph Ziggler's cash in: It seemed as if Dolph Ziggler was on top of the world when he cashed in MiTB to become World Champion created one of the biggest pops in years.

Salmon Suit Mark: One of the greatest swerves happened in the Summer of 2013 when Mark Henry who everyone assumed was retiring...well just watch the video.

John Cena vs Daniel Bryan: John Cena surprisingly picked Daniel Bryan to face him for his WWE Title at SummerSlam, they didn't hold back in the promos, and Bryan was on a mission.

The Authority is born: Bryan finally did it, he won the big one, the WWE Championship, it was a big celebration underway when all of a sudden "Voices" plays, Orton comes out, stares at a confused Bryan, special ref Triple H, spins Bryan around and hits him with a pedigree and Orton wins the title, the next night, the Authority was born.

AJ Lee's pipebomb: There hasn't been a women's promo in WWE to match this since, it was a work shoot but no lies were detected in this promo and she completely destroyed the Total Divas on the mic.

Big E Langston wins IC Title: Big E got a little push in 2013 was the push was received favorably, fans loved him and he seemed poised for a WWE Title shot in 2014 but...you know :mjpls:

That's all for now, if you have any thoughts or any other moments from 2013, please feel free to share :salute:

Looking back, 2013 was fantastic for the first eight months, but it fell off a damn cliff after SummerSlam. They had all the momentum in the world with the way they ended that show but they couldn't carry it for the rest of the year. How did we end the year on another Cena/Orton feud? :gucci:

It's also weird how a year that was really good for the most part had one of the worst WrestleManias I've ever seen. :ld:

CM Punk's promo on the first RAW of 2013 has always been one of my favorites. No one ever talks about it, but that promo was the art of talking on the mic. :ohlawd:

Then again, John Cena's promo right before the Royal Rumble was one of the worst I've ever seen. :scust:

My thoughts are all over the place, but I would take 2013 RAW over 2018 RAW in a heartbeat. :whew:

That's why I was kinda scrambling to find something post SummerSlam, which is why I chose Big E winning the IC title and AJ's pipebomb but yeah early to mid 2013 was top notch WWE TV.

The year I stopped being invested. Twice in a lifetime was annoying, Cena going over Mark was disappointing but expected (:mjpls:), and Heyman heelin’ on Punk was it for me. I ain’t even see the Brock/Punk match ‘til a year or two later and was surprised by how good it was — Brock’s best match. Had I stuck around ‘til Summerslam for that Authority bullshyt, I’da left then.

Amazing how people that don't even watch appear in this threads to say how that was the year they stopped watching :mjlol:

Lemme find @MushroomX in the next thread regarding 2009 and it being his first and last year

13 was great, only regret was the way they handled the Punk and Bryan tag team. I wish they had them teaming with the Rhodes Family going after the Authority instead of that pointless Wyatt family feud.

2013 was handled pretty damn great.
  • Rock/Punk/Cena angle
  • Team Hell No matches with the Shield
  • The Shield was booked flawlessly
  • Punk/Taker feud
  • Undertaker teaming with Team Hell No against the Shield
  • Ziggler/ADR feud
  • Henry’s fake retirement
  • Both Money in the Bank matches (featuring RVD’s return and final stint with the company)
  • All of Summerslam 13: from Punk/Lesnar and Bryan/Cena to ADR/Christian and Cody/Sandow
  • HHH and Orton turning heel for the first time in years (HHH had some great promos during the initial stages of the Authority, his promo with Edge immediately comes to mind)
  • Rhodes family vs. the Authority
  • HBK and Bryan tease
  • Punk and Bryan teaming up
  • seeds planted for the Shield vs the Wyatts
  • Punk vs. the Shield (his match with HHH was being booked perfectly, kinda wish we could have got it)
  • Championship Ascention segment
  • Belts getting unified
